This UPS has been performing excellently running my 8 core Mac Pro and Cinema display. Very good choice for those running high power computing systems.
I only bought this because I had a coupon and Overstock did not have the APC product that I wanted. It seems to work ok, but there is no way to turn off the beeping alarm on the unit itself. You must use the software that comes with it. Therefore, if you were using it for an entertainment center only and not connecting it to a computer, you could not turn the alarm off. Secondly, the shutdown feature uses hibernation only and no way to change it and i would rather have a complete shutdown by closing all programs and shutting down. APC has much better products.
I'm using this UPS to protect my Plasma TV, DVR, PS/3, and Receiver. In looking for a UPS with enough power to hold this equipment I found this one on overstock. UPS is working perfectly. The tower design keeps the power cords in the back and out of site. The unit was shipped fast and well packaged.
Great product and Overstock's price beat all of the retailers and club stores that I checked. I purchased this UPS because the wiring in my building is antique and thats being nice. We have power failures all summer and I didn't want my new computer($3,000), monitor($550) and printer($800) to be damaged. The first day I had it hooked up the AVR feature kicked in while my wife was ironing and I was heating up our daughter's cocoa in the microwave. If that's all it takes to significantly lower the voltage in the Apt. and damage expensive electronics... Then what about when the TV, Playstation and AC are all on! I'm getting another for the entertainment center. Great product!
This UPS was much cheaper than anything else I could find at the same power rating. I haven't had any power failures yet, but I yanked the plug and my computer didn't notice. The included monitoring software works, but could use some improvement.
We had power down overnight for almost three hours a week after installing this and my media computer (in standby mode) didn't blink. When I checked it the next morning it was still up and hadn't even rebooted. Average load 100W - probably less in standby. Was easy to install (though directions a bit cryptic) and it appears to be working like a champ. I may get a second one for my main computer system...
