It is becoming more and more difficult to locate a machine that plays cassettes. I have a whole collection of classic fairy tale books that have read-along cassette tapes which my grandchildren enjoy at bedtime. When my cassette player broke, I was surprised to learn that replacing it was not an easy task. How pleased I was to find the Coby portable cassette player and recorder on the Overstock web site. The price was right, the delivery was timely, and I am "back in business" as the saying goes. This unit is a nice size and attractive. I would certainly recommend it to another person.

The Audio/FM unit is very easy to use and a value for the money.

radio works great, tapes play well also (I did find that if your cassette is not wound tight it would tend to"eat"the tape, but I seem to recall this happening on some cassete players I had owned in the past) so if I make sure the cassette is wound tight I don't have an issue. I will ad that I was disappointed when I opened the box and found no a/c power cord and thought I would go broke with using the 6-8 large batteries to run it. I then noticed it had a receiving end for an a/c cord which is the same as what you would find on a vcr, so I used the one from my stored vcr. I didn't read any other reviews that mentioned it not having a cord and there was no owners manual in my box for me to view. I just got this because my wife wanted to work on some phonics cassettes with our younger children that we had purchased early on for our now older children and we couldn't bring ourselves to purchase the same program on cds for hundreds of dollars when we already owned it on cassette.

This is a simple but good cassette player and radio. It is small and compact and easy to use. The sound quality is adequate if one is in the same room as it the player.

Cassette players are getting harder and harder to find. I bought this for work to play my discontinued cassettes. It lasted less than 5 months. First it started playing the tapes at different speeds, before the motor of the cassette player broke completely. I always cleaned it and kept it in immaculate conditon. I wound up throwing it away as it was too late to return it. I will never buy a COBY product again .

This was a great value for just what I wanted the product to do - play my cassette tapes

This player-recorder is of very good quality and sound and great for the price. Cassette players are really hard to find anymore since CD's have been taking over from cassettes but I still have many cassettes I want to play. I wish it rewound itself but those days are long gone. Still this a neat little product for the sound and price.

I was very glad to find a machine that would play tapes, since those are so rare today. Must confess that I have not yet used the tape function but plan to in the next few weeks. Otherwise, machine is light in weight; radio stations come through clearly; concert lovers might prefer a more resonant system,but given the low price, this seems like a great buy.

though a good deal......the recorder was "worthless" for our handicapped son on his birthday. It "ate" fifteen of his cassette tapes before we could stop the damage to his tapes. The machine was junk and we are waiting to return to FL when we will have to mail the recorder back. It was very disappointing.

I was pleased to still find a cassette and radio combo system. It is a nice system with pretty good sounds, and very easy to operate. The only negative is the antenna. It is not very sturdy and I broke it off while rotating it. However, I was able to reattach it with liquid solder and other creative procedures. I am happy with this boom box.

It was a great purchase. It fit my needs. It works very well. I stongly recommend Overstock.com to all customers.
