Card Readers
Although film cameras have been around more than 150 years, the growing popularity of electronics has made the digital camera inevitable. With digital photos in data files instead of on film and digital cameras growing smaller with every incarnation, digital pictures needed to be stored in smaller and smaller spaces. Memory cards filled that need.
Unfortunately, consumer electronics engineers designed several different memory cards, cards which aren't interchangeable. Every digital camera model uses a different type of cardincluding compact flash cards, memory sticks, multimedia cards, SD memory cards. Fortunately, those same consumer electronics engineers recognized this and created the memory card reader. It's a plug-n-play device that has a slot for some, or all, memory card models. Attach the memory card reader via USB cable to your computer and you have access to all the data on any memory card you have, and all those you're going to buy with the money you keep saving at Overstock.com.
Memory card readers are being designed into newer models of many consumer electronics items. Computers and printers were the first. Arriving ready to read, computers can upload to, and download from, just about any digital memory card.
Though memory card brands are not interchangeable, they are inter-connectable. Digital picture frames now have memory card slots, making them, in effect, a sort of memory card reader. Camcorders, MP3 players, iPods, cell phones and other devices are also featuring memory card slots as well as USB cables because memory cards aren't just a connector to blank media, they are blank media and they don't need a computer to facilitate file transfers. Of course, you do need a computer to take advantage of the great prices at Overstock.com; but don't worry, if you don't have one (or want a new one), we will happily sell you one!
