I have had this item for about a month and have yet to figure out how to use it. I know I am not one to read instructions carefully but the item came with no instructions. So far, I've been able to get the navigator to tell me when I am at home, that is it. While I can get it to show me the map where I currently am, I receive absolutely no direction until I reach home. It spends the entire time looking for the bluetooth or finding connection. This may be "user error," but I would think a navigation unit would not be so difficult to use.

This purchase was a total disappointment. I bought it to have a smaller apparatus to take with me when I travel, to use in rental cars. A 200MB SD card will only hold one part of US maps ( you can't switch them in and out). Buy a big enough card to hold more, and you've lost your cost savings by buying this old product, versus new, more sophisticated standalone units. Though the GPS light kept indicating it had found a signal, on the Treo it kept saying "Waiting for Valid GPS signal." On the few occasions it did work, it was confused as to where I was, and gave me wrong directions! The dashboard bracket's suction cup and adhesive were hold and wouldn't stick. The battery life is short. Unfortunately, I had enough faith that I threw away the box, so now I can't return it. I should have just bought a Garmin as I intended.

Pretty easy to use right out of the box. Looks great on the Palm TX and the voice navigation is very clear. Position and reroute acquisition are pretty fast, no complaints. If I was flying a jet it might be a bit slow but for earthbound travel it's quite good.

3 out of 5Palm GPS Navigator for Tungsten T5, Nov 6, 2007
By hkfuey from Seattle, WA
Pros: Fairly simple to operate. TomTom5 is a decent software. The product is refurbished, but looks like it's been functioning properly; I have it for over a month now and I have no problem with it. The suction cup and bendable arm hold my T5 in place. Very accurate positioning. Having language choices is great!
Cons: Not the most up-to-date TomTom software, so some places were not listed in my area. The suction cup and bendable arm can only hold my T5 in vertical position and not horizontal position, even though I can view the map horizontally on my T5. The bluetooth satellite receiver communicates to my T5 slower than what I expect and, occasionally, I had to exit the Navigator and click on it again to refresh the reception.

IF YOU HAVE A COMPATABLE PALM UNIT AND WANT A GPS, THIS IS THE ONE. I HAVE OWNED GARMIN AND MAGELLIAN UNITS WHICH COST A LOT MORE, BUT THEY DON'T COMPARE. THIS UNIT PICKS UP THE SATALLITES BEFORE THE GARMIN OR MAGELIAN HAVE GOTTEN PAST THE FIRST SCREEN. IF YOU WANT EASE OF USE, THIS IS THE ONE ( YOU DON'T NEED A PHD TO OPERATE THIS UNIT). NEED TRAFFIC OR WEATHER UPDATES - YOU HAVE THEM. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS UNIT.
