Canon Powershot ELPH 500HS Silver

I've made an online friend who is legally blind. She lives in New York and I'm in California. She had been having problems with a Kodak EasyShare camera that would not interface with her computer and Kodak wouldn't step up to the plate as far as the warranty; the timing was poor as her problems occurred in sync with Kodak's bankruptcy filing. For a sight impaired person, she takes a lot of pictures which are exceptional and enjoyed by all of her online friends. We all have a common love of dachshunds, of which she has five plus one of her retired guide dogs, a yellow Lab. Her computer had also recently crashed, so there was a laundry list of things she needed desperately. She was upset and depressed, and I wanted to help, so I came to Overstock to read reviews and product information with my own 'blind trust' that I could find a camera that would meet her needs. It was just delivered yesterday, so I can't speak to long term satisfaction however the initial assessment is SUCCESS!!! She was in the process of charging it and reading the manual, but, using her cell phone and a high powered magnifying glass to be able to type, she sent me an email saying that the screen size was impressive and the touch screen features were going to be an invaluable asset. The bonus is that she just found out (after I'd already ordered the camera and had it shipped with expedited delivery) that she is getting her new guide dog this coming Monday!!! The timing is a miracle, pure and simple!!! Once she gets a new laptop, she will be able to share her exciting adventures with her new guide as well as her "miracle" dachshund who, without any kind of training, was discovered to be able to detect her new Mom's sugar levels and alerts her when she needs to take her glucose tablets. She has gone on to become a certified medical alert dog and goes everywhere with her Mom - usually decked out in some very chic outfit, all of which garners much attention and the need for many pictures!!! I will update my review when I receive more details as to how she's been able to adapt to it and use it to its full potential. She is beyond excited, and so am I!!!
