I bought this camera because my other canon finally quit working. It is really easy to use, I love the special effects feature, it is really neat. I would recommend this camera for someone who wants a camera that takes great pictures and is not difficult to use.
I'm not a real camera techie so I can't speak to that but it's a nice camera that takes pretty great pic. The zoom is amazing. I recently took this camera on a trip and from the 8th floor roof deck of the hotel I could zoom in on specific player in a tournament across the street in a large parking lot. I got some pretty amazing face shots. (you can practically see the pores in their skin. The one thing about it the drove me crazy until I replace it was the strap. It's flimsy, and there's no way to make it hug your wrist. In the past there was a piece that would slide to tighten around your wrist. With what they give you, if you dropped it, it would easily fall off your hand. Come on Canon, why cheap out on the strap? Another thing that would be nice is if there were more instructions on what all the functions are. Unless you already know, there's no telling what all this is.
I had two electronics "nerds" help set up the camera and they couldn't figure it out. It should not be this difficult to understand the programming. The step-by-step is missing steps and a month later we still can't figure out how to send photos. Every use results in us finding (by accident) something new, but since it was by accident, we can't always duplicate it. On the positive side, the 30x zoom is amazing and since I bought it in red, the camera is easy to find in my bag.
