Canon solid
from Charlotte, NC,  Sep 14, 2009

We've gone through a few point-and-clicks dating back to an APS Elf back in 1998. The last time shopping we went with a Canon A540 last time. Pretty good photos, nice options, and durable. The downside was it was bulky and shot-to-shot times lagged considerably. This SD1200IS is the remedy. I still use the A540 but this one takes even better photos and has much better shot-to-shot times. There's even a setting where it will take consecutive photos every second for as long as you hold down the shutter button. I was concerned that I may fumble around with the buttons, but I really haven't had a problem, and it's definitely a non-issue for my wife (who's very happy by the way). We continue to be happy with Canon products and customer service.

Great Camera!
from Salt Lake, UT,  Jun 3, 2010

This Canon is so user friendly and takes great-quality pictures. I bought it before going on a trip to Italy and several people asked what kind of camera I had because the pics turned out so well. One of my friends even said my pics were better than those of his friend, who also went to Italy and took $4000 worth of camera equipment with him. Great choice and very affordable!

good camera
 May 11, 2010

I am very happy with my purchase. Its seems to be a great camera; i say this only because i haven't had the chance to take it outside the house yet. I only know so far that the 'auto' function of taking pictures seems very handy.

I really like this camera. The camera is smaller than what I expected but that's OK because It goes with me everywhere, and It does take some good pictures.

from neptune, new jersey,  Apr 22, 2010

This is the first time a bought a Canon digital camera. The pictures are so crystal clear. Its light weight. I would recommend this camera. It's as easy to use as any other digital camera. Love the quality of the pictures. The only thing, the camera comes with zero memory, so have one handy when your camera arrives.

Good Buy
from Washington, DC,  Apr 15, 2010

Good Buy but always read the reviews of all products on Overstock. I have found many times when I order that items that have no reviews that you are at risk for getting something that isnt what was promised or as described in the review. Reviews help tremendously as I have ordered many items that were either broken or were mis represented from what was in the ad. Example: Says new but got refurbished, or color or quality was way off from what was represented.

I was the last in my family...all 5 of us now have a Canon. My wife's is nearly 4 years old, and not a minutes problem. My daughter had an issue with hers. Canon repaired (via mail) and it was perfect -- took less than three weeks... I even wrote them a letter of appreciation.

Cannon Powershot
from Ocean City, Md,  Mar 25, 2010

I compared the price of this camera with many national chains - none could come close to the value offered by Overstock.com. The camera is a little larger than a cell phone - thin, light and easy to operate. Plus - there is a view finder for people who like that option. Picture quality was outstanding.

Canon Powershot SD1200 IS
from Boise, Idaho,  Mar 3, 2010

The camera is very compact and yet takes very nice photos. Uses a rechargeable battery Ni-C, not double AA, so will be more expensive to have a spare battery handy or to replace one. It does come with a handy battery recharger. Some users may find the camera a little small for their hands. You wil need to purchase a memory card. The on camera controls are fairly easy to use and in automatic mode, the camera takes over making little computer whirring noises as it adjusts itself to light, focus etc. before telling you it's ok to take a photo. The camera has 3x zoom but I sometimes wish it had 4x. The manual that comes with the camera is good and the onscreen manual that loads to your PC with the provided software is even more informative. If you don't have one, I'd recommend that you buy a little camera case to protect and carry the camera. I found a canon camera case on the Overstock website that I purchased. I would recommend this camera to others looking for a good quality, compact camera that produces fine photos.

It's alright....
from Baton Rouge, LA,  Feb 27, 2010

I purchased this camera because it was small and rather inexpensive. Before I had this one, I had a Sony Cybershot that was stolen. After printing the pictures from the computer, the images from the Cannon seemed to be grainy. It could be because I uploaded the pics after I manipulated the picture to look good on the internet, so it may have compromised the original picture. It is easy to use, and takes decent pictures.

Canon SD 1200
 from Orlando,  Feb 25, 2010

I bought this camera for a cruise. I was very skeptical about buying it, because there are so many cameras on the market these days. I read multiple reviews and it was highly recommended on Consumer Reports. This camera takes excellent pictures. I am so happy with my purchase. This is my first Canon and I will never go to anything else! The picture quality is awesome. I Had to remind myself its only 10Mp! It is very user friendly, no rocket science needed. The battery lasted the whole 4 days of the cruise without having to recharge (150 pictures taken on high resolution). Most definitley a bang for your buck. You will not be disappointed!!

Like What I See
from Carbondale, IL,  Feb 10, 2010

I bought this digital camera for full family use and was most interested in finding a camera that was relatively easy to operate and would also produce quality pictures. So far we are very pleased with this product. The package arrived quickly and all contents were securely wrapped. The one feature that was disappointing was that there was no 'sample' memory card of any size to let you try out the camera right away.

Great Little Camera
from Boulder, CO,  Feb 2, 2010

This is a great point and shoot camera. It is small--a great way to record your adventures. It has 10 MP which is really all you need unless you plan to do HUGE prints, and the re-chargeable battery is a nice feature.
