I am an advanced beginner adult cellist, and was having some issues with keeping time. My teacher had me using my old tiny electronic metronome (because that's all I had) and I just could not keep time to it at all. He suggested that I get the old-fashioned wooden kind with a pendulum, so I went on line to read reviews and shop, and that is how I found this metronome (there are many excellent reviews at the other big shopping site, but the price here was much better.) Some of the features that convinced me to spend so much on a metronome included the ability to choose a 'voice'. There are 4, including an old-fashioned metronome sound, and also a voice counting 1-2-3-4 etc. My ability to stay with the tempo improved 100% almost immediately with this metronome, in part because it is so easy to hear. The other feature I really like is the ability to dial up the tempo quickly and easily, without having to click up every beat - you just turn the dial. I also like the ability to use headphones or earbuds with the metronome. I am a very thrifty shopper, but if you look at what you are spending on lessons, if you need help with rhythms or timing, this turns out to be an economical solution in the long run. I went from frustrated to confident, and now in my strings class, I am the one on the beat. I was skeptical that this metronome would help me because I thought, based on the difficulty I was having with my old small one, that the problem was me. But now I feel 'cured.' Highly recommend this product, and it can do much more than I have discussed here, although for the basics even, it can't be beat.

A very effective training tool for guitar. If you need it for hours be aware it uses lots of 9v batteries.

Use it every day in my middle school band program. The kids really like the background beats. It makes playing whole notes a lot more exciting!

It seems to be the teaching tool to have for those that want to take their performance to the next level. Very versatile. Within one day of using it, my daughter's rhythm has improved and her teacher noticed a dramatic improvement. Can't comment on durability at this point, we have only had it for a couple of weeks.

The metronome allows me to practice with headphones. I wish that the instructions were clearer, but if you play around with it, you can work out whatever you need. It would be nice if you could contact Boss to ask questions. A "line in" besides "guitar in" would have also been nice, so that you could practice along with headphones and an MP3. I have all that hooked up anyway, but I had to go through the mike input of a Boss Loop Station to get that done. So much for portability there. The warranty is 90 days. As long as I don't need it that is fine. I bought it for the cheapest possible price, so I am taking that chance. It appears sturdy. I use a boss AC adapter, not included in the purchase. It also has a 9V battery option. There are other functions and features that I have not tried yet.

I ordered a metronome and got more than expected from this excellent product. It's also a great value. Thanks again Overstock!

I bought this for my Son and he says he likes it. I have no complaints.I understand this is very desirable in the realm of the metronome.....like the deluxe model.
