I had played a Strat through one of these babies at a friends a month ago and was hooked. The tone opportunities this little amp presents are throught the roof. If you want to play twangy country the thing can do it-same for blistering stack marshall sound and anything in between. Buying on Overstock.com made the deal even better with a better price than out on the street. Here is a tip- get your tones the way you want them on this little baby and then cord it to your big amps high, active or AUX input. You now have all the tones and effects and ALL THE VOLUME you can muster in a package you can pick up as easily as a six-pack of whatever. Depending on the music genre you play the micro may be all you need to gig with all by itself. I have put about 15 hours on mine with only batteries and it is still going strong!. Currently I am using a Telecaster or a Guild S-100 solid body and country rock is type music i use the Micro for. Make some music!

Amazing!
 from wilmington,DE,  Aug 27, 2009

This little amp is LOUD. On rectifier setting... 7 is too much.I got this thing for vacation...And I was in for a surprise. This amp can handle blues, rock metal and anything else you can throw at it.You can even play Black Label Society covers with no prob. Every pinch harmonic squeals out with clarity. The palm mutes don't have as much weight behind them as a 212 combo, but that is to be expected. You can practice anything you want and every technique shines through. If I had known about this thing years ago, I would have used it until i saved up enough to buy the best tube head available. You don't need pedals or anything. It has great sustain and a ton of headroom. This is coming from a tone junkie that favors 100 watt tube heads.

Great little Amp
 from Iowa,  Feb 14, 2012

This little amp has lots of effects settings to play around with to create different sounds, sounds great and produces a lot more volume than I expected.

Speaker is just not big enough
from Oklahoma City,  Feb 9, 2012

It's a shame that Roland did not put a bigger speaker into this amp because it could have been a great amp. As it stands, the amp just cannot amplify sound well, especially if you use the auxiliary in while playing guitar through it. The sound is warbling and cuts in and out even at moderate levels. I believe the speaker is defective, and I'm returning the amp. For me, the sound was comparable to using my Vox headphone amp plugged into my iHome mini speaker. This is a more inexpensive, smaller, and better option for me.

  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Speaker problems
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Well designed except for the very poor speaker

Roland Micro Cube = Galactic First Step
from Akron, Ohio,  Oct 26, 2011

I didn't know which way to go with starting out to add some different sound to my electric guitar. I am so glad that I bought the Roland Micro Cube. I know that I will probably be buying some other effects pedals later on, but the Cube is allowing me to experiment and develop my own sound now, before blowing a lot of money on equipment that I won't need. And I thoght Roland only made keyboards.

Great little practice amp
from Santa Cruz, CA,  Sep 20, 2011

This is a great little practice amp. Small, good sound, digital effects, headphone jack. It's hard to believe that they can make any money on these. The speaker isn't great, but it is good enough for practice.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Exactly the same.
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? Yes
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Great quality

Great for practicing and small jams
 from Israel,  Aug 16, 2011

This was a gift for my son, so I can't comment with firsthand experience using the amp,but I can say this. My son tried out a friend's micro cube before we bought this one. He loves the different effects and sounds he can choose, which keeps things interesting. This little amp is lightweight, easy to carry or pack up, and it's dual voltage, which is a big plus since he took it overseas. It's great for practicing and small jam sessions. The most noticeable difference I see is that he now practices more than he ever used to.

  • How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Very well
  • Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? None noticed
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Excellent

Great little portable amp. My 76 year old mother uses it with her Native American Flute. The sound is outstanding for such a little amp.

Great Little Amp
 from Arizona,  Sep 17, 2010

I play a kalimba with a pickup and needed something to help boost the sound to the level of other instruments. The Roland Micro Cube does exactly that and gives me the added fun of being able to alter the sound. I'm especially enjoying the Brit Combo with a little Phaser. Definitely worth it if you are looking for a small, portable amp.

With only limited space and two electric guitars this small amp filled the bill. Good quality in a small package.

Great value and features
 from FL,  Aug 26, 2010

This is a truly great practice amplifier. It is far more capable that those that existed 20 years ago for three times the price. I learned about the Roland Micro Cube from a review on Kevin Kelley's Cool Tools and it was right on the mark.

Roland Microcube worthy of its reputation...
 from Minneapolis,  Aug 20, 2010

I bought this microcube for home practice and recording purposes. It's a legendary little speaker for a reason. These things are amazing. The sound and effects you get out of it's 4-inch speaker are incredible. My friends, who are all gear heads with Marshall tube amps and the works were extremely impressed. Plus its portable because it can work off of Double-A batteries and weighs about as much as a wet pigeon! One of the best purchases I ever made in terms of musical instruments and equipment. I couldn't be happier.

Great little amp
from Philadelphia. PA,  Jan 12, 2010

I was looking for an amp that would not be too complicated, not be too expensive, not be too heavy to lift and would work on batteries as well as AC, so I could take it with me anywhere. This little unit has all of these qualities. I had to experiment with the settings but most are quite intuitive. I recommend it greatly.

A Performance Poet's Dream
 from Pittsburgh,  Feb 25, 2008

Have been working with my partner on some poetry/guitar pieces and this was exactly what we needed to rehearse (book launching gig in July). I love the reverb and delay (though I wish I could do both together ¿ actually wish I could walk around 24-7 talking in reverb and delay). The sound is great (of course I know nothing about electronic sound quality) but my boyfriend seems pretty darn happy with what ended up being a Valentine's Day gift. LOVE it. We may even take it on stage ¿
