They look nice. They arrived in perfect condition... EXCEPT that the crossover inside one had come loose from its mounting location (to which it had only been glued) and was dangling inside by the wires from the speakers above it. I chose to dismantle it and re-secure the crossover, which was not difficult. Fortunately, I had an EQ that I could use on the system that the speakers are to be used with, otherwise, the frequency response of the speakers would not have been even enough for my liking. If the size, shape, and price suit you, go for it. They sound nice EQ'ed, for the price.
All i can say is get them... you won't beleave the power they can handle....im pushing 130w of clean power from a Denon i just got. As with any speaker, Most people don't know you have to tweek your AVR to get the right sound that you want. they sound better and better as each day pass's
The PL-89 speakers is another leap in affordable tower speakers. They replaced BIC DV-84s which were rotated to the side speakers in a THX 7.1 setup. While they PL-89s were a reasonable improvement over the DV-84, especially on the mid-range, the real benefit was the replacements of the CLR62s that I was using for the side and rear speakers. Overall, I love BIC America and their quality/value. I am eyeing the PL-200 subwoofer as my next purchase to increase from a 7.1 to a 7.2 system. Audio is subjective but BIC works for me.
