BIC Acoustech PL-76 Speakers (Set of 2)

Maybe I'm spoiled because I used to have a subwoofer, but I found the base to be lacking. I'm getting the matching subwoofer next. They look nice, too. When I play scifi movies like the new Star Trek, the sounds of the space ships seems to really push these speakers.

These speakers provide quality sound on a budget. I consider myself an audiophile and have very picky taste in speakers and I find the sound of these towers to be very good. The horn tweeters make them perfect for watching movies but they also sound good with regular music as well. The exterior build quality is attractive, but one warning is that the woofers are not metal as they appear in the picture but are painted to look that way. Not a big deal for me as I will be keeping the grills on, but this could be disappointing for others. I've heard people complain that they are too "bright" sounding, but I have not noticed this. The closest thing I can compare them to would be the Klipsch Synergy series but with a slightly warmer, more natural sound (and costing much less than the Klipsch's). I also bought the Acoustech center channel speaker and subwoofer which sound just as good. Overall I am extremely happy with these speakers and the price I paid for them...a great buy for someone looking for great sounding speakers without having to spend 1000's to get it!!!

I am a college student in Santa Barbara, I've been saving up my money for a few months, and with a little help from my parents i am beginnning to put together my own home theatre. I shopped around for HOURS AND HOURS reading every review, talking to everyone i know who knows anything about sound, calling proffessionals and even taking weekly trips to best buy to talk to them also(though they're not the brightest) I decided to buy 2 BIC America Acoustech PL-76 towers to start off my system, lemme tell you these things are drop down amazing!! they're accompanied with a 50" panasonic plasma screen, an onkyo reciever pumping 100 watts per channel, and some polk audio bookshelf speakers. my living room is now the hottest place in town to hang out. Now my dad has 2 home theatres at his house that i've grown up in and hes gone through 2 different systems in each room. i forget what his old ones were but right now he has a JBL 7.1 upstairs and a Klipch 7.1 downstairs, and honestly i would pit my 2 towers against his whole system any day of the week. And these were considerably less expensive. he was even shocked when he came down here and heard them! so shocked he said he would consider changing out the downstairs Klipsch system for a BIC America Acoustech 7.1, these things are still very new, and everything i've read says they're only going to get better with time!! I recommend to the fullest extent, and strongly encourage everyone to purchase these. overstock.com was very helpful, expediate and nice during the whole process. ENJOY!
