I bought this center to work with my Cerwin Vega 250Se towers due to their high sensitivity and horn-loaded tweeters. However, the PL-28 did not work well with them - it eclipsed them! The Vegas are a 3 way speaker, but the BIC (two way) has better imaging, richer midrange, and better imaging. It also has an extremely low profile, and comes with wall-mount eyelets, so you have more than one mounting option. the midrange is excellent, bass range is more than acceptable for a sealed speaker, and the highs are clean, crisp, and well-defined. At no point does this speaker become muddy or distorted. The sound is extremely close to the Klipsch Reference series in terms of being pronounced, clear, and very, very well placed. In my opinion, this center provides better off-axis response than the Klipsch unit, though the trade-off is the sweet spot - Klipsch sweet spot can put you in a diabetic coma - it is perfect. If you NEVER move your head while watching movies, get the Klipsch. If you are, much like me, alive, and like to breathe once in a while, save the $400, and buy this BIC. You will not regret it.
In fact, I liked it so much that I ordered a set of matching front towers, PL-89s. Can't wait... :)
- How did the image on site compare with the actual product? Spot on.
- Was the product free of any manufacturer defects? the speaker had a tiny ding on the bottom baffle, but it was inconsequential in my set up, as it is hidden from view.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Excellent.
