I recently cancelled my cable service to save money and decided to get an antenna instead. It has definitely increased the amount of channels I get, from 4 to about 15 (including French channels), but not all of them come in very clearly and I live right downtown. I have to adjust the antenna depending on the channel, which can be a pain because the cable running to the t.v. is designed to fit into a notch underneath the base, but doesn't fit in properly. Also, if you look closely at the photo, you can see the collapsed rabbit ears along the backside of the unit...so not only do you have the ridiculous quasi-futuristic piece showing (people have made some comments), but you will also have traditional rabbit ears sticking up that are about a meter in length. So, while I haven't experienced the high quality and large increase in channels that other users have, it still does the job, and I am able to watch most prime time shows. My main issue with the unit is that it is a very ugly fixture in my living room. I would give this product 3.5 stars if I could.
It's an antenna and it works. There's not much more to say. It picks up all the channels we expected it to pick up. Reception is good. Much easier to install and use than an outdoor antenna. No complaints.
i got good reception on about 6 or 7 channels. I suppose i could keep buying different models to figure which is the best. If i want real options i would need a subscription i'm sure. I usually get my info from independent news sources but needed to know what the masses were being "fed" thus i needed a tv, i went hd and this met my basic requirements i guess. i have nothing to compare it with at this point. I would recommend due to its simplicity and could not honestly evaluate due to so many variables, ie. buildings, proximity of towers etc.
Audiovox Directional Indoor UHF/VHF HDTV Antenna works great. Easy to hook up to non HDTV with converter box to get HDTV channels. This antenna gave me 19 additional channels over a white flat antenna that you had to plug into a wall, and also had an amplifier attached. Audiovox antenna does not have to be plugged into any electrical outlet. It works off your TV and gives great clear reception. Beats paying $64 a month for cable TV. If you can stand looking at the antenna on top of your TV - it's a great deal.
This antenna was very easy to set up with the digital box in my spare bedroom and right out of the box picked up 25 channels. That was 10 more than the previous antenna.
