I had been searching for a chromebook for a long time. I've checked reviews on tech sites and found this to a great purchase. I've had this for about a month now and use it all day every day. For my use this is great. I'm an internet surfer and use the google docs. This is NOT a computer and operates on OS but I've had no problems using OS after using Windows for years, I actually have found that I prefer this operating system. Of course the size (screen and keyboard) is smaller than what I had before but the screen resolution is great for what I need and the keyboard is fine, easy to use and not different than my old laptop. This would not be good for online gaming but I have any problems with this item. This is a good purchase and I really like it. It's light weight, boots up immediately upon opening the top. You will want to lookup how to use the short cuts like copy and paste as it different than Windows. You can't click and swipe the words that you want to copy like in Windows and when you look how to do these things you will find a very long list of all the short cuts, actually I don't think they are short cuts they are just "how to" do all the things that I could do using Windows. Great purchase, I would recommend this chromebook.

  • Almost a Great Laptop

    I received the laptop only a couple of days after ordering it. Unfortunately, I received the dreaded Chrome OS is missing or damaged error when I turned it on for the first time. Fortunately, I was able to follow the instructions provided by the Chromebook Recovery Utility and was able to restore the laptop into a working condition. Ever since, it has worked out very well. The battery life for a laptop is excellent. I'm able to place the laptop into a backpack for classes because it's light enough to carry and durable enough to handle it. The screen is big enough that I can use the Google Sheets or watch Netflix without difficulty. The speakers provided work fine with playing music from Youtube or movies from Netflix. And yes, it boots up just about right away when you open the laptop. Now, you'll have to trust the cloud to save/retrieve your files and there's no slot to play CDs. But for the price, a Chromebook is a good laptop that should tackle most, if not all, your needs. Only gets 4 stars instead of 5 for not being able to work right out of the box. But I am glad that I chose an Acer Chromebook to work as a school/portable computing system. I'd recommend it to other people looking for something that's portable and sturdy.

    Well, I was really excited when I purchased this item, but when I had my brother start to set it up for me, the first error message was " you do not have Google Chrome. So after being pissed off for a moment, my incredibly smart brother figured out how to download it off the internet with quite a bit of hassle. I also ordered an extended warranty which I have not received any paperwork on, or how to use it, if needed. I give this 1 star for the aggravation and work for my brother.

    I purchased 3 of these laptops for my children and myself. They are perfect for everything you need to do. Long battery life, immediate start up right out if the box and very easy to use.   • A Chromebook w/o Google Chrome- really???

    Ordered new (NOT REFURBISHED). It came and when we tried to set it up all I got were error messages. It told me I needed to add google chrome (again on a CHROMEBOOK?? Really???). I had to buy a flash drive and find a friend to let me borrow her computer to download a recovery drive. Once it was on the flash drive I was able to download it to the Chromebook and now it works fine. I complained to overstock.com customer service and they told me if I gave them a copy of the receipt for the flash drive they would reimburse me for the cost . However, less than 24 hours later I received an email stating they had not received the documentation and considered the matter closed. I haven't been able to find the receipt but was going to go to Staples with my credit card to have them print out a new one. The flash drive was only $25 but the time it took for me to get it all done is what made me the most angry. At this point I didn't want to waste anymore of my valuable time when I don't trust that Overstock.Com will do the right thing.
