Great Recording, Lame Editing.
I purchased this product March 2012 for $149. I wanted to capture television programs from my DVR onto my laptop so I could save the programs and also delete them on my Directv DVR, freeing up memory on the DVR. At the time, there were only 2 options out there for recording HD video via USB to a laptop. This is an excellent price and an excellent product. The quality of the captured HD video is tremendous. But, this product only captures in ".TS" format so there isnt a lot a flexibility. Although this does come with video converting software, it is extremely slow. Like hours and hours to convert one file. The other disappointment is the "editing" software. It is very, very basic and is difficult to use. In summary, this is an excellent product to capture the HD video. This product is for you is if you are comfortable keeping the files in ".TS". However, you will need to invest in other software for converting and editing the video. I do recommend this product.
