Item seems to throw off a large amount of heat. The readout states the unit is to provide my PC with over 30 minutes of power which is great, though the unit throws off a lot more heat than I had expected. I own several UPS units though none of this capacity, is it normal for it to get that hot?

Small footprint, but packs a good punch! I used to have a APC Back-UPS Pro model #1000 for more than 10 years, and up to now, only had replaced the batteries every 3 or so years. Unfortunatelly, my unit finally gave up the ghost, and I wanted the same unit, but, not knowing the actual amps and watts I am using on the mains, figured I'd upgrade to the largest unit I could find. O.co gave me an excellent search results, and I was tossed between the APC and the other manufacturers, but really wanted to stick with APC, as it has been a rugged, robust, and dependable product for so many years. This unit caught my eye, as it is the largest Volt Amps UPS I have found, the price here at O.co even beat NewEgg and APC, which really sold me on buying the unit here. The unit is really impressive. Hot Swapping of replacing batteries, and the display, which my old unit had just four lights, and a sequence of beeps to convey information, whereas, this unit, has an extensive display. I have walked through all the visual displays, like the Amps, Estimated battery remaining time in minutes (even with the unit getting main power), and the unit is smaller than a mid-tower computer case, so it can fit almost anywhere. I was rather impressed with the Amps usage information, as I found out I am only using between 130 Amps to around 150 Amps, (the lower your amp usage, the longer the batteries can run your equipment when the power dies), I also liked the display of estimated battery time, which with the amp usage I have, gives me around 35 minutes. The display gives you at-a-glance information about load usage, on-main-power, on-battery-power, battery charge/discharge graph, battery replace indication, mute, and this unit comes with three buttons on the front, as my old unit only had one button, which had time limits to change functions. This unit has three buttons, one to walk through the different displays, power, and a mute (for when audible alarms come up). Having 10 outlets on the back, 5 surge only, 5 backup UPS. Of the five outlets each, two of the UPS outlets are marked for Master, which can be set up when the master power is dropped, as in a computer in sleep, or shutdown mode, the UPS will drop the other three outlets. The unit also has this same control on the Surge Only outlets, two of the five are controled by the Master outlet on the UPS side. This feature can be disabled, as I have done, as all the connected equipment I have on the UPS are vital, but the flexablity is there for you, if you need/want it. The back of the unit has the 10 outlets, an in/out coax cable surge protection, an ethernet cat-5 in/out surge protection, site wiring error indication, resetable circuit breaker, and a USB port to use the included Windows software to control the unit from a computer. The unit also has an extra port on the back to purchase an additional battery pack, thus, doubling your time if the power dies. I am extremelly satisfied with my purchase from O.co, and the product.
