The Athlon chip was bought to replace an equally aged Sempron. As expected, the change produced a needed increase in speed. My VIA-based motherboard immediately recognised the chip, its speed and multiplier. The chip itself slid into the ZIF socket as if on skis. The only downside was the difficulty of fitting the heatsink onto the socket A lugs, but that is hardly the fault of the chip, now is it? Full marks to AMD and O.Co, well supported by prompt delivery and excellent communications via tracking facilities.
