Expected cheap, but too flimsy. As a professional photographer, I'm always weighing the necessity of purchasing high-quality, expensive gear against the option of picking up inexpensive, cheaply-made equipment based on how critical the particular piece is to my work. Since I own 2 nice tripods and would only be using the monopod occasionally, I figured I was fine going with the cheap one. As it turns out, I am VERY lucky that I didn't destroy several thousand dollars worth of camera & lens. On my very first time using the monopod, I took it out to a park for an engagement portrait session. I had attached a quick release adapter to the 1/4" thread on the top so that I could easily swap out different bodies swiftly. On my walk to a nearby pond, I mounted a 5D Mk. II to the monopod and carried the whole rig by the monopod itself. Once at the location, I switched cameras. As I went to move, I lifted the whole contraption by the camera body. It was then that the monopod (weighing mere ounces) fell away because THE THREADED SCREW PULLED OUT OF THE HANDLE! This was the last thing I expected! I assumed that the padded grip would disintegrate quickly or that the rapid-action leg locks would wear out over time, but I certainly did not anticipate the most critical piece of the unit to fail on the first time out! When I got home, I used massive amounts of super glue to stick the threaded head back into the monopod. It seems to be holding, but I certainly won't be trusting this thing to hold any bodies or lenses without them being secured to me in some other way. To top it all off, the item is listed as including a bonus carrying case. Needless to say, it came with no such case. I wasn't devastated by the lack of a carrying case, but I'm insulted that they advertise it when, in fact, nothing extra is included. In short, I didn't expect much from a $15 monopod, but this piece failed to meet even my low expectations. I would say that it may be a worth-while investment for a casual user who wants a little extra stability with their point-and-shoot camera at a low cost, but even those individuals should be aware of the cheap build and never trust the monopod alone to hold their camera.
