I was looking for a projector I could use for a presentation to 20-30 people using a laptop at different locations - one where I expected to be a little cramped, so I didn't want a big bulky projector taking up unnecessary space. I was a little nervous paying so little for this projector, and the fact that the details said it had less than 100 Lumens had me concerned that it might not be bright enough to use in mixed light. But I though I'd take a chance because I really liked its compact size, and it has a VGA port. When I got it out of the box I was thrilled, because as soon as I turn it on, I could tell the projections was going to be as bright as I needed. Even with full lights on (although I tested it during the evening with no direct sunlight) you could make out the picture clearly, and still had plenty of light to write or take notes in. Score! Although I haven't taken the time to explore the options yet, it looks like you can pre-load all your pictures or movies onto the PROJECTOR, potentially eliminating the need for a laptop if you are showing strictly pictures or video, especially in a family setting. This will be great to bring the next time we travel to see family. We can load all the pictures onto the projector and bring just this - MUCH smaller than a laptop. You can also do the same thing with an SD card. Load pics on there and show them straight from the projector - WITHOUT a laptop! If I had been able to see this in a store, I would've easily paid double for it! The biggest potential problem I see is the remote control. Because this unit is so compact there are no controls built into it. So if you lose your remote - or your battery dies before your presentation starts, you are in BIG trouble. I couldn't get the picture to work just using laptop settings (though I didn't try too hard) Also the user manual that came with the projector was pretty weak, only 16 pages in all, most of it pretty basic stuff, like a diagram of the unit and remote, etc.
