So far, I've had no problem with the pen portion, and the laser pointer hasn't failed yet, but the USB portion has been wraught with problems. When the pen arrived, the glue holding the USB drive in place didn't. So when unscrewing the cover, the whole assembly would turn. I was able to "fix" this using some rubber cement tape I had around. This gave the assembly some good holding power (so far). The USB drive itself doesn't seem to accept files transferred to the drive. They appear while the drive is active, but when you "safely remove the device", the files stored within directories all disappear (or rather, don't seem to be written to the device.) The three directories I created appeared fine, but nothing added to them is available. I even used a recovery program, to no avail. Since all was lost already, I formatted the drive (FAT) and attempted to copy a file into a directory. Of course, the directory is fine, but there was no file. On the second attempt, I copied the file twice.. Once to the directory, and once to the root of the drive. The next check of the drive looked fine. I just checked again and they are there. I added another file. and closed the drive. That file is there. There must be some trick to getting the files to write correctly. I checked the properties each time to make sure the size changed.. Perhaps that is the trick.. LOL Good luck with this drive if you buy it, but buyer beware.
This is very nice product especially you have two things in one. You carry your information, write and make a point.
I am extremely unhappy!! The Flash drive part works great, but thats it! I carried it around in my pocket because i use it a lot, but its not like i do sports with it in my pockets, it was very well treated and taken care of and it didn't last a week before it fell apart!! it was 40 dollars and even with the 2GB flash drive it wasn't worth it!! The pen fell apart, the bottom compartment won't skrew on right, and the laser pointer that i used to give presentations, gave out half way through my second presentation using it!! If i can find where i put the warranty, since i didn't originally think i would need it, or either way, i will get my money back!
I ordered 2 pens. One came in perfect, all features worked, pen is solid. Laser pointer works good. 2G Memory works well. On the second pen, total broken. - The laser pointers button is jammed. - The memory card portion of pens glue didnt hold on the portion which connects to the pen body. I like the pen that works immensely, I hope I am the only one that had the problem with the second. The idea and execution of the design is good. Its the manufacturing quality which needs improvement.
So I bought a second one ... and the SAME THING HAPPENED. Do not buy this it is JUNK.
My mom purchased two of these pen drives. They both broke in exactly the same way on the same day we bought them. When you try to screw the laser pointer piece into the pen piece, it does not fit in properly. And when you remove it, the flash chip breaks off from the rest of the pen. This is junk. Get anything else.
This was just too good to be true. Every single feature didn't deliver. Files were lost when transferring onto the flash drive, the laser pointer failed and the pen dried up within a few days. Complete and utter junk. Invest in a brand name flash drive.
