When I replaced my old desktop with a netbook a few months ago, I needed an optical drive. I don't use it all that often, but when I do, it works just fine. While it's working it does make a sound louder than I'm used to, but that's not really a big deal. It comes with a CD with some of its own software (an auto backup feature, a security thing) as well as some other companies' such as a burning utility. Like the hardware, the software works fine. So, basically, it does it's job and it's a good price.

We burn hundreds of CD's a week for our personalized music site. We tend to go through two burners a year and have tried many different brands. So far this one has performed like a champ! Quiet, super fast and even thou it was referb. the product came with clear plastic still on the drive. Oh, we paid only for standard shipping however, we received the product the very next day! ***** Five star shipping!

I have always had good luck in purchasing previous LG products, but even I was a little wary about buying a "refurb" item, even at such a great price. Not any more! My LG LightScribe arrived in "brand new" condition and has worked flawlessly! The blazing-fast 20x speed capability has dramatically reduced my burn time - that alone was well worth the price! The software provided does an excellent job of titles AND graphics, so now my personal DVD's have that "professional" look rather than magic marker scribbling all over them. You would think that such a GREAT deal on price combined with such low, low shipping charges that you would have to wait weeks to get your purchase - I got mine in a manner of DAYS! I give Overstock.com a BIG "thumbs up". I have been VERY pleased with all of my purchases through them, and now I am a believer in their refurbished items as well!

This worked out of the box with both my Ubuntu Karmic Koala 9.10 and Intrepid Ibex 9.04 desktops. For data DVDs, just drag and drop files, then burn it. For video DVDs, I did have to install DeVeDe to create the video DVD iso. That was easy enough (though it took forever to reencode) and played fine in my regular DVD player with a menu and everything. I don't have any blank dual layer DVDs yet, but I'm really looking forward to getting some and using them with this burner.

The CD?DVD drive on my computer had stopped working probperly. I am not ready to purchase another computer but I could not load software without a working drive. Overstock to the rescue! Now I have an external drive that I can also use if I purchase one of thos trimmed down notebooks without a drive. Installed very easily.

Product is better than i expected, and cheaper than Amazon's price, would have given 5 stars but the shipping took forever, to get quicker delivery i would have to pay as much or more than the item itself, only reason i dont order more from Overstock.

I bought this burner because the pc I bought did not come with a cd burner. This is a good value for the money. I loaded the driver dvd that came with it and that gave me a lot of programs that I don't need. I am sure that for some people, that would be great but I have simple needs. If you just want to burn cds, just hook it up, let your computer recognize it, and you are good to go.......Works well!

I purchased this as a back up drive for my 2350 Dell computer and its great. I understood it was refubushed. Quite supprised when it arrive. Lookwed as if it was brand new. Came with everything I needed to get it working. The only problem is the software which comes with it has Nero 8 essentails on it and I never did get it to work, but then later I recevive an interbal drive with Nero 9 essentails and I could not get it to work. This little drive does everything I ask it to do and the lightscribe is a snap to use. I would buy this drive again. If you need an external drive buy this one and for what Overstock charges for shipping you cann't go wrong.

I've only used this burner a few times, but I like it alot. A little bulky, but other than that it's a really good buy. This unit is so quiet it's hard to tell if it's even working! Speed and performance is efficient. Would definitely recommend to others. Took about 3 minutes to print two lines of text w/ lightscribe at normal contrast... I gave this a (high) rating of four stars across the board because five stars to me would be perfect.
