The base breaks easily and the thread unravels too easily

I bought this for my Grandchildren for Christmas. I thought it would be a good experience to learn to Latch Hook a Butterfly Rug! It is so neat! The girls have not received their gifts yet but I felt what it was like inside. Feel is everything! children like the feel of soft, cozy material. In addition to wanting the children to experience this, I want the children to use there hands and fingers. It is good for concentration and for their brain. Thank you Stephanie Misasi
