Walking Foot working well
from Honokaa, HI,  Jul 21, 2007

I see lots of people were confused with how to use this item, as it did not come with instructions. Let me help a little. .... the main walking foot item is attached to the post that holds your regular foot. For mine, I had to take my small screwdriver, remove the screw from the left side of the post, and then slide the walking foot in with the large plastic part in the back. The metal piece that has a diamond shaped flat piece and a small rod goes through the hole in the back part of the foot. It is used for a guide when doing parallel lines. The third piece that comes with this is a darning foot, I believe and I have no idea how to use it. But for me the other two pieces are worth their weight in gold, since I am a quilter and mainly do sew in the ditch or cross hatch designs.

walking foot is easy to change out
from Western Massachusetts,  Oct 4, 2009

I really like this product. It sews through many layers. As to the users who didn't get instructions, I don't think anyone did-I looked in my sewing machine instruction book to find them, and you should not need a screw. I use a brother se-350, google "brother se-350 how to attach a walking foot" you'll be so happy you did. It's an easy install (I don't think it matters what machine you have, but if you would like to use your brand to google for help, that should work just fine too). If you are sewing through more than 6 layers you may have to help it "walk" just a little, like mitering a denim corner or something like that. I am not sorry I went generic versus name brand. By the way- I love the refurbished brother se-350 embroidery machine I bought here on overstock.

Quilting is so much easier!!
 from NC,  Jun 6, 2010

My sister told me that I needed a Walking Foot for my Singer 2263 (a very simple, beginners machine) when I complained about thread snags and breakage while sewing two or more layers together... The Singer site wanted much more for this piece, so I took a chance and went with this "generic" version. It works PERFECTLY! To install it, all I had to do was remove the screw on the left side of the shank, slip the walking foot into place (with the plastic piece on the right side slipped over the needle screw on the right). Done! Took less than 2 minutes to install and I was off and quilting with ease! The fabric slips effortlessly through the machine now, and no more thread snags every 5 inches! LOVE LOVE LOVE this little piece! It will make quilting so much easier for this newbie. :)

I have an old style Bernina and needed to purchase a shank adapter in order to install this walking foot. Once installed, it wasn't exactly straight (due to the large "behind" of the foot getting in the way of the lever on the back of my machine that holds the shank in place) but, it got the job done and without any fear of it snapping the sewing needle on any width. Overall, it's alright. If you can get a cheap walking foot that was built for your machine, get it. If you can't afford the big buck foot, this is a reliable alternative.

a great product
 from Texas,  Mar 30, 2008

I love this product. I have hestitated buying a walking foot because I didn't think one would work on my treadle sewing machine, but I was certainly wrong. This one works great on my 1940s vintage Singer. Thanks to mnibecke, too, for including directions on how to attach the foot to my machine. I think I could have figured it out if there hadn't been the darning foot in the package, too, just to confuse me!

Works great
from Seattle, WA,  Nov 3, 2007

I love this walking foot. I've wanted one for some time but all the ones I saw were priced much higher, so I admit that price was a consideration in my choice. This one is great. It had no instructions as to installation but it was pretty easy to figure out. Helps to sew nice straight lines and my fabric doesn't twist out of place and have to be re-sewn.

This walking foot is great!
from Bakersfield, CA,  Oct 22, 2007

I just received this walking foot and after playing around with it was able to install it on to my machine. I am a new sewer and wanted to make a simple block baby quilt for a friend who is having a baby. Well, It was a success, this walking foot made it so simple to sew thru 3 layers of fabric and batting! My husband and mother could not believe I made such a beautiful baby quilt. I am inspired to make many more. This is a must for all quilters, especially beginners.

Very nice to have
 from Colorado,  Aug 24, 2007

WOW! I cannot believe I have lived without a walking foot for so long. I just used it to put a binding on a quilt and it made it so much prettier and was so much easier to do. No puckering or pulling! Yeah! It was dificult to figure out how to install without instructions. However, after messing around, I think I have it.

Walking foot workhorse
from richmond ca,  Apr 11, 2007

The item arrived in a timely manner, and proved to fit my sewing machine. There were no instructions and I had to search the web for a picture of how it was supposed to attach. I have used the foot extensively since purchasing it and it's performed well. With the comparable brand-specific foot for my machine being far, far more expensive, I'm very happy with this purchase.
