Happy Tool Junkie
I used this tool at a quilt workshop a few months ago and would have bought it there, but I did not want to bring it back on the airplane. I was delighted to see it on overstock at a much reduced price. It is very useful for holding large rulers securely to the fabric when cutting with rotary blades and cutting mats. It could be used for other purposes too, like drawing large geometrical plans or projects. It might also be useful for drawing lines on walls if you want to paint stripes on them. The ruler should be at least 4-6 inches wide to be useful with this device. I have a 6 x 12 inch ruler that is its permanent home. The device allows pain-free use (if you have arthritis) and it helps steady the ruler for cutting.

I saw the gripper in a quilt store but they were sold out. I was glad to find this on Overstock at a reasonable price! This will decrease slippage as you rotary cut fabric.

Gypsy Gripper
I bought this to hold the ruler in place while cutting fabric with a rotary cutter. Holds well enough to avoid slipping and keeps fingers away from the ruler edges. Just not enough suction when I lift to move to another position, but for the price, it does the job intended. Perhaps it will work better after some usage. Well made and economical. Would recommend for holding ruler for safer cutting of fabric.

- Please tell us about the quality of the product. Sturdy especially to lean on although the gripper suction needs to be improved. Not enough suction.

I am a beginning quilter and found this a wonderful tool for cutting cloth strips. My cuts are more accurate, and my fingers are out of the way of my rotary cutter.

Flew off the wall....
The gripper flew off the wall shortly after adhering it to the shower wall (I have a molded tub enclosure rather than a tile wall.) I did this several times, went to another room, heard a loud noise and the gripper had disengaged and fallen into the tub. This happened about four times. This item is NOT as advertised.

A great helper
As a long-time quilter, I have struggled with holding a ruler in place as I cut a long length (24 in) of fabric. The Gypsy Gripper changes the way the force is applied on the ruler - all downward instead of the down and sideways force that one applies if one is holding onto just the ruler by hand. This allows the ruler to stay more stable as one cuts, and decreases the chances of 'ruler slips' that make for inaccurate cuts. Now I am looking for a single head gripper for my smaller rulers!

Love It!
I received the Original Gypsey Gripper for Christmas. I use my rotary cutter almost daily for my home business. The Gripper took a few minutes to get used to but then I was sold! I would NOT want to return to using my acrylic ruler without this handy feature. The Gypsey Gripper makes ruler placement and holding faster and more convenient. When cutting more slippery materials, I still hold directly onto the ruler, but I love having it on all the time. I purchased one for my mom, an avid quilter. She loves it as well. Overstock had a great price and shipped quickly.
