Sizzix Big Shot Pro Die Cutting Machine

This machine opens up lots of opportunities for creating. It is quite large in real life (hard to picture by the dimensions) and needs to be placed on a sturdy table or desk to use. Even though the description said it was 44 pounds, I wasn't quite prepared for heavy it really is! One needs to find a place to put the machine and then not move it much. The handles on both ends of the machine do make moving it very comfortable, though. I wouldn't consider this a "portable machine", mine won't be leaving my home like I do with my regular size Big Shot! All in all, I am having a blast cutting with the huge dies and making really fun projects!

I have several of the Sizzix machines already but I did want this one to be able to use all the different sizes of dies with more materials. It isn't portable but I didn't expect it to be. I'm lucky to have a craft room so it's set up to use whenever I want. I don;t know how much I'd use it if I had to haul it out all the time as it is quite heavy. You need to buy the extra platform, shim and the thin die adapter to make full use of the machine.

I'm so happy with my Big Shot Pro machine! I have a place to put it, so size and weight is not an issue for me. I love that I can use any Sizzix (or other) products with it, no matter how small. The machine is quality built and the sliding tray is heavy duty, I can't imagine ever having to replace it. The only assembly required is putting the crank handle on with the included allen wrench ... it's a snap! I have since purchased other cutting plates (a pair of extended plates) to reduce wear on the large plates that come with the machine. Dies cut cleanly and perfectly, and the only problem with owning this machine is the never ending wanting of new dies! It also embosses paper very professionally using embossing folders, and the addition of the solo platform lets you cut spellbinder dies as well as emboss very nicely. If you want to save a few dollars and go with the smaller machine ... think again. Then when you find that wonderful big die to cut envelopes and you can't use it because of size restrictions ... well ... I'd just have to say "I told you so!" Enjoy. I've been wanting a Big Shot Pro for a long time, but the price was always more than what I wanted to pay. When Overstock had it for a reasonable price, I ordered it immediately. The description and size was listed, but I didn't realize how huge and heavy this was until I received it. I enjoy making greeting cards with homemade flowers and wanted to give them in a homemade box. I wanted to make a viewing window on the top of the box, but couldn't with my smaller Big Shot as it can only cut 6" wide cardstock. My boxes are 5 x 7 so the Big Shot Pro allows me to cut the size I need. I just love this machine.and you will, too.!
