Great idea, cheap quaility
I was very excited to receive this item as a gift to facilitate my working on stitching during a convalescence from surgery, and it's doing the job right now, but after only a week of use, I am just waiting to be disappointed...I mean, I am expecting it to break. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised. All in all, I will be surprised if the hoop survives the lap quilt project it was purchased for! It is a useful aid and has done the job so far, but I think long term, it's just not going to last. Workmanship and quality of the materials is low. Two metal rivets connect the hoop to the staff and are a weak part of the design. They have been fragile from the moment it came out of the box! The hoop itself does not make a tight tension. The mechanism to raise and lower the height, is a simple wooden set screw that is basically useless. ALSO There is no documentation of the company or any materials at all that come with the box, so there is no hope of 'warranty repairs' or 'replacement parts", so if the inevitable happens, the entire thing will need to be replaced. Another writer spoke that it was not interchangeable with other systems... that is what she meant. If this breaks, you can't fix it by buying new parts. The idea of the product is brilliant, the balancing of hands and materials is wonderful in concept, but I am not sure this is the product that will do the job for the long haul. And for me, every stitchery project means a long haul! Given the investment, I'd look around for an more friendly design and a manufacturer who has replacement parts.

Sit on style embroidery hoop.
This hoop very easy to use. I'm using for small quilt project and take the class It's small fit in to my quilting bag. I love this small hoop. Vary good product highty reccoment.

Serves the purpose
This frame serves my purpose. I was looking for something to take the strain off my wrist when working on a very large cross stitch project. This frame does the job. However the height adjustment feature of the frame does not hold. The problem is in the design of the product. Since I am short and do not have to adjust the height up, it is not a problem for me.

This lap frame really made the project easier
It made the embroidery item so much easier to handle. Also I could use both hands to work on the item.

So glad I got this
This is a lifesaver on the wrists. I actually don't directly sit on it all that often, although sometimes if I'm traveling on a bus or something I will. It's a great thing for being able to sew from different angles and get a clear look at the back, etc. It's very easy to assemble and disassemble, and it's not terribly large. It's let me do larger projects than I used to and I've really been able to branch out while sparing my wrists.
