I almost didn't order the Silhoutte cameo because I was afraid it would be complicated. I am very happy I did order it though. It is so easy and fun to use I have ordered some other products to use with it now and can't wait for them to arrive. Such as sequins, markers, and a few other things. You can get free designs from the silhoutte web site for around *** apiece and it is yours forever no storage waist and no paying up to *** for a disc that has a lot of junk you'll never use. This machine is so fun and simple that I would have made a big mistake not to purchase it. You can use it to not only cut paper but also cloth, metal, vynel, and other materials. you can set sequins, do graphics for iron ons for clothing and a lot more I even made an address plate for my home address out of the adhesive vynel. I experiment and discover something new almost daily. That's how easy and fun it is. This is a great investment. I highly recommend you trying it for yourself. You won't be sorry you did.Read More
I purchased the Silhouette Cameo mainly to design fabric appliques for my business. Love ability to create my own designs. So far it exceeds my expectations. I'm very pleased.Read More
I debated between the Silhouette and the Cricut machines. I am fortunate enough to have friends with both machines so I was able to try both machines before actually making a purchase. I found the Silhouette to be more money up front but will ultimately save me money because all of the designs are purchased at the Silhouette online store for .99 vs needing to buy cartridges. I liken the cartridges and Silhouette online store to buying a cd or buying a song on iTunes. You get exactly the designs you want without the other designs included in the cartridge that you may or may not use later. The cartridges are both another item to find storage for and are expensive. After using the $** of gift cards that came with this set, I enrolled in a subscription to the Silhouette online store and for $** per month I get a $** per month credit in the design store. In addition, I found the software for the Silhouette to be more intuitive. I consider myself computer literate but I am by no means a computer whiz. I was able to immediately start working with the software. The ability to cut fabric was the number one reason why I decided to get a die cutter to begin with. I can happily say that this machine has flawlessly cut all of the fabric I have tried in it. I mostly cut cotton quilting fabric but I have also cut felt and canvas. I have used both types of the interfacing that comes with this kit and both work well for the intended purpose. I prefer the clean cut interfacing because some of the designs are very intricate and it would make it difficult to sew all of the pieces. With the clean cut interfacing you can iron the item on. The sewable interfacing works well for items with less complicated edges that you can stitch around. After having used these, I find that sewable and extra strength heat 'n bond work just as well and are far more economical. In addition to cutting fabric, I have also used the machine to cut vinyl and paper products with great success. I am extremely pleased with the versatility of this product. It has opened a whole new world to my crafting experience.Read More
I have always been a pretty paper and fabric hoarder, but am new to paper crafting, which is a big deal with the ladies in my husband's family. I have to admit that I was not much interested in paper crafting until I learned about the Cameo. I have been using it for a couple of months now and am so impressed with what it can do. I was a little overwhelmed at first and didn't really know where to start, but there are so many tutorials out there for whatever you want to do that it makes it easy to get started and learn new techniques. I do want to note that I received a bum blade with my machine. Silhouette is aware of the problem and replaced my blade for free and that is the only issue that I have experienced.Read More
