I bought this sewing machine for my seven year old daughter. Not only is it cute, but it is high quality. It works beautifully and was the envy of all the other sewers in her class. I have only ONE issue with this product. IT DOES NOT COME IN AN UNMARKED BOX!! I ordered this for a Christmas gift and my daughter saw the UPS truck arrive and walk up to the door with a box that showed her new machine in pink and green colors!! An unmarked brown box would have made my day!!

The table is fine now that is assembled. I had been sewing on a card table and using this table is a relief no more bouncing of the machine. It is stable, has shelves that are handy for storage and the fold town part of the top allows me to use it in my limited space. The big problem was the assembly. My husband is handy. Builds and restores wood chairs, boxes, etc. The directions were sketchy and he had a hard time holding the piece until he could get the screws lined up with the holes. It's great once assembled but be sure to have a "handy person" around!

I purchased this sidewinder to help me with bobbin winding. I don't like re threading when I am working on a large project. This model is a little cheap...all of lightweight plastic. You attach your spool one one side by putting it over a retractable spool pin. The thread is then taken through a small metal hoop and around the winding part back to the pin where you put the bobbin. You then push a green button and the bobbin should wind. The winding part doesn't always move correctly, sometimes the thread gets caught. There is an automatic shut off and it seems to me it shuts off too soon. There is plenty more room on the bobbin. This machine makes a TON of noise for how small it is. If I am not holding the unit, sometimes it bounces all over the table Pros: it works to wind your bobbins especially if you sew a lot Cons: noise, thread gets caught, bobbins not wound fully, lightweight model moves when it winds

Can't wait to work on it and hang on the wall! I thought one of the colors was a brown but it really is dark green with little cherries on it. I am a beginner and kits are a great way to start you off so you can do the whole project without having to make sure you have everything. The red is spot on to what the picture looked liked. Would recommend this this kit!

This is my first serger. I bounced back and forth between replacing my 25 year old Singer sewing machine with a new one or buying a serger. Since the machine works fine, I decided to keep it and buy the serger. What a great idea! It is really a wonderful machine. The Janome Magnolia is sturdy, and sews and cuts beautifully. The machine comes pre-threaded to ease the pain of threading it. You have to attach and knot thread to the thread already loaded in the machine. Somehow I managed to pull the knot out of two of the threads, so I just took out all of the pre-loaded threads and figured it out, with a little assistance from a Youtube video. It was in Spanish, but it was easy to follow along with the visual cues. The thread guides are color coded, but the green ones are sort of tricky and hard to see, so you may need a flashlight to see the guides inside the machine. I didn't find the manual that helpful which is why I searched Youtube for assistance. I practiced on scraps to get the feel of the machine and to learn how it works before using it to work on a project. I think the machine does a great job. No stalling, hesitating or stumbling over layers, it sews and cuts right through. Having an older sewing machine, it's a nice change of pace to sew with the serger because it is fast and powerful! The Janome Magnolia is an affordable machine and it gets my recommendation. I am pleased with my purchase and am impressed with the Janome brand. When I do get a new sewing machine, it will be the same brand.

I had felt a little silly purchasing a Hello Kitty machine initially, but after I had done extensive internet research on reviews of this model (both professional and personal) I decided to go with this model. Janome is an excellent maker to begin with, having decades of good and better reviews. At first I had thought of purchasing the Hello Kitty model below this one (the green) but the amount of features available on the 18750 make it well worth the extra money. Shipping was fast, to Canada, and the box arrived with no bumps of marks. Well-packaged from the factory. All components were present and I was delighted to find that the machine had a metal body when I had honestly expected plastic like all the other machines out there. Set-up was non-existent, the manual well-written and illustrated. When running/sewing, the machine hums like a top and is much quieter than I expected. Also, it does not "wander" at high speeds - a definite plus. Speed is easily adjusted and stitches are changed in a snap. I'm also really impressed by the buttonhole stitches - I'll never do them by hand again. I couldn't be more pleased with this machine. I've waited a long time to get a "new to me" machine and I am delighted that I chose this model and delighted that I purchased it from Overstock.com. Fast, safe shipping and no hidden costs or brokerage fees! What a delight! I will definitely recommend this machine and Overstock.com to my friends.

It's a great serger but it did take awhile to figure out the threading. So, I'll give you several suggestions, 1) paint the metal the color of the dots where you thread through 2) Read the manual and go to Singer.com and look at the support section, there you will find "frequently asked questions" there you will find a color schematic on how to thread. 3) There are TWO levers inside the machine that will help you thread the red and the brown looper, the brown lever (it's silver and it has a half round at the end, I call it the brown lever since it threads the looper designated with a brown path. is almost directly behind the plastic that faces you when the serger door is opened, the one that controls the threading for the red looper is easier to find. That is the worse there is, it's finding those levers, now that you know, it will be easy to find and easy to thread. This machine has better lighting than the Singer stylist but the tweezers that comes with it may have an issue since it hasn't the smooth finish and you'll know it's a problem if you try to thread the needle and it catches on the tweezer, I just got myself a better tweezer and it made a world of difference. IT DOES NOT COME WITH FIVE CONES OF THREAD!!!! It has a small thread card and the machine is set up in a coverstitch configuration. Study it, Use the tie thread method the first times you want to use the machine, I suggest you use the same color thread as the color of the dots. Five colors: Orange, blue, green, red and brown, I think. I also labeled all the parts and I also labeled the order that you thread the machine, Note there's two orders of threading. 1) for coverstitch, the other for overstitch. It doesn't have a free arm, that's why I got a Singer stylist too, it does have a free arm but the lighting isn't as good on that machine as the Pro 5. If you are new to serging and don't want alot of headaches with threading you might want to get the Singer stylist, it has a GREAT CD on threading, . The pro 5 comes with a CD but it's a workbook not a video on how to thread. I think Singer would not have so many complaints on this machine had they included a how to thread CD with it. I trained on a Baby lock serger and the stitches on both this Singer and the Baby lock are comparable.

My husband purchased this for my sewing room. I love the table, and the mat covers the green on top for the most part. However, the mat measure 1/8th of an inch too long on the longest side (if you are facing the Arrow name). For quilters, this is a disaster and you can only use one side of the mat. Even the newest mat as this issue, although CS says it is only the first inch. Yes, it is the first inch all the way across the 58 inch span.

I have been using a Serger for years and love the results: This Serger is a great value for the price I paid, however Singer could improve their product in the following ways: This Serger has 3 lower loopers, the illustrations which you print out, are not very clear and could be greatly improved if each looper would be highlighted in the photo's. (As is, you can't see the details and understand which looper they are discussing). Also the 3 loopers need to be color coded, not just the threading guides(which are color coded). But the actual looper Self-Threaders should be colored RED, GREEN, and BROWN as they are in a very tight space. I had to watch YOUTUBE instruction video's over and over to figure out how to thread it correctly, as the Singer illustrations really are confusing. Also, the Knife Cover and Seam Guide Plate are pretty fragile plastic, (I broke the Knife Cover withing the first week of using it). (My previous Serger was a Singer also and it was easier to thread and understand the manual.) I use my Serger daily and love it, these are just some things which would help to improve it. If anyone is looking to purchase this product, I would say it a great deal, just plan on spending a week or two getting to understand it. It would ideal to have a professional help you through the first setup and explain how everything works. I am afraid some purchasers will give up and never get the opportunity to see what fun a Serger can be.
