I'm so glad I chose this machine. I dabble in sewing, quilting, and mending various things throughout the house, and want a machine that is reliable, easy to use and has the functions I need. This machine has all of that! My last machine had a needle threader that was so hard to use it wasn't even worth trying, this one is so easy and convenient I don't think I'll have to hand thread a needle ever again :) And you just drop the bobbin in, and the machine takes care of threading it up and through, no more hastle! What a great purchase.

I love this sewing machine! I've been using it for a few weeks now and it is just terrific. It is a very sturdy workhorse. Much nicer than the usual dinky little sewing machines. I've already used it to make clothes for my kids and three quilts. It has a large assortment of decorative stitches and comes with many useful presser feet. It is simple and easy to use if you've had any experience with sewing machines. The manual is clear and easy to understand. The separate bobbin winding motor is very practical and saves a lot of time when you don't have to stop and rethread the machine after winding a new bobbin. The thread cutting feature is also very practical. I truly LOVE this machine!

I'm taking several quilting classes at different shops and I must carry my sewing machine and other quilting supplies with me. While other quilters are waiting their turn at the big ironing board or cutting board, I just use my own small one. It's great! Very handy.

All you have to do is put this "pendant" on a ribbon, chain, or string and tie it around your neck. Then you're all set to knit, crochet, sew, and/or quilt without searching for your scissors when you need to cut and start again.

I had taken on the task of trying to repair a friend's daughter's much loved, and very ratty, favorite blankie. This had been hand made by the grandmother, from parts of blankets that had been made for her own daughters, so the front was old print material, and the back was newer plain cotton. The front was ripped in places, and the batting was shot. I read a blog about someone who wanted to repair their old blanket, and one comment suggested this stuff. My Mom was skeptical, but she was thinking of heavier weight stuff that she had worked with in the past. I took the blanket apart, used this to fuse the front to the old back, and then got compatible material to make patches for the holes, and hand sewed them on the fused material, using cross stitches to match the look of the fake squares on the pattern. I got new batting, and plain cotton close to the color of the old back, to make a new back, and put it all back together. I had this for a week, and the girl had been told that they just forgot the blanket at my house. When she showed up on their next visit, I pulled the repaired blanket out and handed it to her, and held my breath, afraid she would not recognize the repaired item as her blankie, but she did not hesitate a moment, and put it up to her cheek, as always! I don't think I could have repaired it without this stuff, since the top layer was so threadbare. It is a little stiffer than the original item, but not much, partly because the new batting was a little thinner, and not fluffy, but it has more of the feel of a regular cotton quilt, so not bad at all.

I am so glad I bought this machine. I've only sewn on Brother machines and this is the best one I have owned so far. I use mine mainly for making quilts and it has a wide enough opening between the arm and base to actually quilt a queen size quilt. The other feature I like is that I can store all of it's accessories in the bottom storage compartment and the cover has a spot to put the pedal foot and plug. Love it, no more sewing machine parts all over the place! I would recommend this machine for anyone that is an advanced sewer or quilter. It's the best Brother machine I have owned yet and it's not too complicated once you get started with it.

I make quilting totes and I needed a stabilizer that was firm but not stiff. I contacted the Pellon company to ask their advice. They recommended Pellon #926 because it is firm but also more flexible. I purchased it from Overstock because it was a great price. I used it on two of my totes and I love it. It is indeed flexible. That quality also helps sew it better. The stiff stabilizer ruins my sewing machine. Thank you for this excellent product.

I have this machine and love it. I do simple embroidery and it's very user friendly. I create all my quilt labels on the computer, put them on a jump drive and insert into the machine. Works like a charm and you can sew away while it's working. Having had a combo machine was so frustrating because you couldn't sew while the embroidery was working; no so with this. Shows thread breaks and low bobbin too.

I do a lot of hand sewing, cross stitch and quilting. The Morgan Hoops Lap Stands are easy to use and project stays tight. I would recommend this for any person who does a lot of hand work.

This is a good little machine for someone who likes to sew as a hobby. The biggest problem I had with it was the spool that goes on top coming off. The plastic stick they have you put it on is thinner than most of the thread that I use (*** brand), so if I was sewing with any sort of speed it would come off. My solution was to take a pen cap and put it in the extra space, which solved the problem. The foot pedal takes some getting used to. At first it seems as if it only has two speeds: super fast and super slow. Eventually you get the feel of it and you can control it, but it will take a bit of time. Experiment with a spare scrap of fabric first so you don't end up having to seam rip your project! Good little machine overall. I mostly like to sew and quilt for fun, and this machine suits my needs.

I have had my machine for a week and have made 2 baby quilts and hemmed 3 pair of denim capris. The machine works well and has done all I have required of it. Blankets are made of flannel and went through 4 thickness' easily. Did not have to use my hump jumper. Would recommend to new and experienced seamstress'. I have an elegante and was looking for a machine to travel with. My husband and I do volunteer work and are heading out of state in a few weeks and this will be the only machine I take. Light weight and takes up little space. Have been sewing for 50 years and this is a gem.

I really like this sewing machine. I bought it to replace another Brother that I had. My only issue has been that the foot pedal quit working, so I had to get a new one from a Brother Sewing Service center. I have made 5 Quilts since I got it in January.

I haven't used it much so far, but it certainly seems to do everything I wold want it to do. I'm 65 and have long given up the idea of doig fancy embroidery, elaborate quilts, etc!!! I need a great basic sewing machine with a few bells and whistles. The one fills the bill!!

I bought this machine to be used at classes and for my granddaughter to start sewing on. I have a Janome with all the bells and whistles and wanted to be able to use the same bobbins. This machine sews well but is loud. It has a great 1/4 inch foot sew will be great for my quilting but I miss my needle threader, up/down switch and thread cutter. I am planning to attend a 3 day quilting workshop and am thinking of lugging my 29 lb beauty instead of this light weight. It is like comparing a $16,000 SUV to a $46,000 one. They both will get me there, one is just a whole lot nicer.

I love my Janome 6500! This is an awesome sewing machine. Nice & heavy with a great table around it for quilting or other sewing. I'm so happy to have it.

I would recommend this product to a friend with a caveat. It is not terribly easy to manipulate especially if you have a large quilt in it and have a curvy design that you have to keep changing the direction of the hoop. If there's nothing but straight sewing, very comfortable. It is somewhat flimsy, but I simply put my feet on the crossbar and it's fine. The price is extremely good compared to the price of others I have seen. I like the oval rather than the square also, but that's simply a matter of preference.

I got this sewing machine for myself to learn to sew on. I had never used a sewing machine before. This is a great machine, I have taught myself to sew on it and have been able to complete many projects, making soft furnishing, altering clothes, making purses and quilting. Two things about this machine that make me glad I purchased this are the drop in bobbin and the automatic threader.

We purchased three of the Hello Kitty Janome sewing machines for an after school program for at risk children ages 9-11. It was the perfect choice! The machine is easy to use and sews beautifully....Several of the volunteers who are excellent quilters commented that they are going to purchase one for their quilt workshops...thanks Overstock!!!
