My first project was a King Size Pillow Sham. I quilted a design on the front. Machine works through numerous layers of fabric and batting and adjusts to the different thickness of all! Easy to thread and fill the bobbin. The only difference in the bobbin threading from my old machine, it requires one to thread the bobbin on the top of the machine, whereas my 45 year old Singer machine allowed one to fill the bobbin without taking it out of the machine. Really impressed with this sewing machine and have several quilting projects ready fo make. Machine arrived in perfect condition and is lightweight and easy to use. Will keep the box for our potential upcoming move.

I was apprehensive about trying a refurbished machine, being a beginner to sewing. But this machine is great and works well so far (about a week) I have not given it 'excellent' because I am yet to use this exhaustively and have tried it only for straight stitches with light fabrics.

My Viking machine died after thirty years of great service. I wanted something that would allow me to do a variety of projects using a variety of materials. I wanted mechanical and not computerized, user friendly and pleasant to use. This machine has met each of my goals and is a pleasure to use. I am very happy.

I received a refurbished product that I believe could not have been properly serviced. No matter what I did, the machine would not produce a quality stitch. I am an experienced sewer and knew what various options to try. Also, it did not sew at the speed advertised. If I had received a machine in good working order I do believe this would be a good machine for the money. I liked that it is a mechanical machine with all that is needed for garment sewing, and wish I could review one that was not defective.

Great machine, easy to use for a beginner like me. Refurbished means brand new in this case...better than I expected.

I bought this machine to learn how to sew and took it with me to a sewing class. It was pretty easy to work with (I had never used a sewing machine before) so I am pleased.

bought this for doing some sewing and beginning quilting. so far i have had several jams of thread in the bobbin housing. it takes on average 15 minutes to fix because i have to take plates off to get to jam. other than that, the machine has performed well and is very easy to use. the multiple stitches are very nice. nothing too advanced, but great for making decorative stitches on clothing and quilting.

I haven't used it much so far, but it certainly seems to do everything I wold want it to do. I'm 65 and have long given up the idea of doig fancy embroidery, elaborate quilts, etc!!! I need a great basic sewing machine with a few bells and whistles. The one fills the bill!!

It's a good, basic sewing machine. Easy to use, lightweight to bring out for occasional sewing needs. I recently lost weight and need to take in some pants and this is a good machine for that. I would not use it for anything too difficult (ie: sewing duck or any overly heavy weight fabric) but for simple sewing of clothing and household projects it's perfect.

I suppose for a contemporary plastic sewing machine this is no better or worse than others on the market but the machine seized up and ruined the feed and timing on my first use. I had to have the machine serviced and was told that it requires special, thin (rather expensive) thread because there isn't enough clearance between the bobbin and the sewing area to accommodate what I believed to be the standard thread of choice (Coats and Clarks). I intend to donate this as I own too much Coats and Clarks thread to begin investing in thinner weight thread and I don't want to deal with a machine that I had such a bad experience with out of the gate. I have since purchased an older, metal sewing machine and find the quality and performance to be superior to these plastic models they are selling these days. The price wasn't all that bad but the quality is lacking and the performance sub-par. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Just used this machine for the first time last weekend. It was easy to set up and get going. Directions are easy to understand. Did a whole day of sewing a quilt top with no problems. Especially liked the tool compartment, quick bobbin winding and how easy it is to thread.

I purchased this sewing machine because I needed a machine that I could attach a quilting foot to. It is a pleasure to use. It's easy to move around (in case you are like me and don't have a dedicated sewing place). It is well made and quiet. It makes the stitches you ask it to make and winding the bobbin is easy. I like that you can see the level of bobbin thread through the see through cover. The needle threader is very nice; I do wish that it had a thread cutter. The instruction book that comes with the machine is well written and makes starting up everything a piece of cake. I totally recommend this machine if you are like me and don't want a machine with a computer in it.

I have 3 other brothers and it seems that machine is the best I have used. I ordered and it seemed like it was no time and it was sitting on my front pourch. I really liked the Idea I could follow it. I have ordered from overstock befor from rugs to software and inbetween I have always had really good luck with this site. DEMW

This sewing machine is providing just what I need at my experience level. This is my first machine and I find it very easy to operate. Having completed my first dress, I am feeling very proud of myself. Even though this machine is refurbished, it looks brand new. It sews at a speed that I am comfortable with. I am very happy that I made the purchase.

This sewing machine is very easy to use. It light weight. I like this stitch selections. I have a little experience using a sewing machine. This sewing machine is very friendly. I have not needed to use the instruction manual yet. My only complaint is that I would like for it to sew a little faster. Definitely, a good sewing machine for beginners and intermediates.

The bobbin-winder on my antique/vintage treadle sewing machine stopped working and nothing I could do would revive it. Thanks to the Sidewinder Portable Bobbin Winder I can continue using my sewing machine, which pleases me greatly. The Bobbin Winder's size, speed, and ease of use is Delightful. Makes me wish I'd done the search, found it, and bought it at the first sign of bobbin-winding difficulty with my otherwise dependable vintage sewing machine! Having the option to plug it into an electric socket is a good bonus feature, too.
