This is meant more for a child's use, but is good none the less.

This has got to be one of the worst things I have ever bought for the price. I read the reviews and thought they looked pretty good, but boy were they wrong! This was a Christmas gift for my four year old grand daughter that went BAD! She was so excited on Christmas when she got her machine and then....It would not work! What a disappointment.

This is a great simple sewing machine. It has the basic stitches necessary to get the job done, nothing fancy though. I bought it as a gift for my grandma who only uses it for hemming pants and sewing lighter materials. I was pretty surprised though when she let me borrow it and I used it to sew a heavier fabric and it worked great! It handled it much better than I thought. It's not too light though and I know that it is advertised as "lightweight". It has more mechanical parts seeing that it's not electronic or computerized so I guess it's lightweight compared to other mechanically based sewing machines. It's top speed is also much faster than I thought. I have a Brother SQ-9000 and this machine has a faster top speed than my SQ-9000. This machine also has a nice compartment that opens up which makes it easy to clean out the dust and fuzz that gets caught underneath due to normal sewing. Great machine for the price and Brother makes great machines so you know you're always getting a deal. The only reason I knocked it down a star is because the title is misleading. It says 35 stitch function but the machine only does 14 stitches. Not sure what they mean by "stitch functions"

Just the right size for an 8 year old child. It is also quite sturdy for the price and a good value for the price. Great machine to introduce children to sewing.

This sewing machine may be a toy, but it is a sweet toy. It actually sews very nicely and is simple to use. My 7 year granddaughter wanted a sewing machine for a Christmas gift, so I purchased it for her. I showed her how to use it and she does very well with it. She really enjoys making simple things right now. I told her she needs to sew under the supervision of myself, or of her parents until she gets to be a little older. The instructions are very simple and I like the fact that the manual states that you can buy replacement sewing machine needles at any craft store. I did some searching on toy sewing machines, and this one is the most well made machine--it is nice and solid. The foot pedal works well also; you can also plug into an outlet if you do not have batteries. My granddaughter and I are very pleased and would recommend this sweet sewing machine to anyone who is looking for a toy sewing machine, or as a simple "starter" sewing machine to learn how to sew.

I was looking for a machine with which I could do costume garment construction and another crafts of that sort. I've since completed 2 costume projects with this machine. To be clear: this is a no-frills machine. With its limited number of stitches and the limited number of "fancy" features, the machine itself performs perfectly. It will sew through multiple, thick layers (I did 8 layers of poplin without trouble) but also handles fine fabrics (like silks) without snags. I'm trying to avoid having a machine with electronics - not only is that one more thing that can break and limit the life of your machine, my sewing needs don't really require it. If you're looking to do fancy quilting, this machine probably isn't what you're going for. But if you're looking to sew garments, costumes or other crafts that require nothing more than some zig-zag and straight pastiches, this is your machine. I have no doubt I'll be able to keep this machine and use it for my lifetime.

Purchased this machine on a recommendation of a friend. After I figured out how to operate it I loved it. Instruction book is a lot to be desired. Translation from (I think chineese) is horrible. Manual needs to be updated. You have to know how to sew in order to figure it out. Not for beginners. Machine works great but had a problem with foot control. After about 20 hrs did not work, apparently a short. Went to local sewing machine company and purchased a new electronic control. Foot control is very cheap. Machine supposedly has 5 year warranty, but no where to call or contact if you have a problem. I have a home business doing window decor. This hemmer saves me lots of time. Would recommend to the experienced sewer.

My daughter likes this sewing machine. It is a little hard for her to use alone but I think in time and practice she will be ok with it

I bought this sewing machine because I wanted to learn how to sew pillows and other things. I like that it is small, has it's own case and very easy to use. I also like that I can show my daughter how to use this because it is so easy to set up and clean up.

This is a great machine for little girls to start sewing with. My 6-year-old niece got the hang of using it in just a couple minutes. It's really a mini sewing machine with more power than I was expecting--not a piece of junk toy. I love that it comes with all the basic necessities too. Great purchase.

I bought this machine for my 8 year old daughter that wanted to learn how to sew. She was very excited when we received the package yesterday. The machine looks sturdy for the price and size and stiches pretty good! She is currently sewing a drawstring bag and its coming out beautiful. I like the fact that it has a high and low stiching speed. the low is perfect for her as a beginner. There are a whole bunch of holes to thread the machine but hey its easy for her to see and learn. I will update the review if need be after a week or so but I think it will not give us any problems. LOVING this little machine!!! Plus there was FREE SHIPPING! Can't get better than that! :-)

I purchased the little machine for my 8-yr-old granddaughter for Christmas and when she opened it, she loved it. First of all, it was a sewing machine and second, it was blue (not pink, she is a bit of a tom-boy). Nevertheless, she sewed on it and LOVED it. She made the purse with the material and notions provided with the case and she was so proud and enthused. Great Choice machine. I would Highly recommed this little machine. We are very pleased. Thank You O. Sincerely, Mawmaw and granddaughter.

I got this for my daughters birthday thinking it would be a good way for her to do some basic sewing / learning. It worked well for about 6 in. worth of sewing. After that the machine started making huge loops on the back side of the stitches. There is no way to adjust anything so I'm glad I bought the platinum protection plan. At this point I really wish I'd just spent a little more & gotten a full sized, real sewing machine.

This little machine works great. My 9 year-old granddaughter wanted to learn how to sew, so I purchased this for her. The threading process is a little complicated, but neither of us know how to sew so I guess that's not unusual for novices. We made a pillow case out of a fuzzy material and had no problem with the needle going through it. I would definitely recommend this.

I have sewn for most of my life. I purchased this for my grand daughter. Threading it was difficult. The thread would not slide through the tension button, no matter how we tried. I should havde spent more $$$ and purchased a sewing machine that was not toy-like. My error.

I was thrilled with this little machine...I purchased this for my granddaughter just turning 10 and hearing her say "Grandma I already made a little bag...it was soooo easy!" made my day. I recommend this for any little one that is starting out sewing. Easy instructions, light weight for lifting and ease of use.

There are many educational toys and games that help children learn better listening skills. Children often have difficulty developing good listening skills, and by playing educational games with your children, you can bond with them and guide their learning. Many electronic learning and educational toys encourage independent learning while still focusing on listening comprehension. By using the numerous educational games and toys available focused on listening skills, children can learn while having fun. Board games: Board games require kids to listen to a set of rules. To play, they must retain the rules they just heard. Instead of letting the kid read the rules, read the rules to them. Have them repeat the rules back. The practice of repeating and using the rules they've learned helps reinforce their ability to listen and remember. Video games: Age-appropriate educational video games work similar to videos, music and other auditory games. These games can be played alone or with others. Video games can be played on most game consoles, on computers and through many websites. To complete game tasks, kids must listen to and remember instructions. Auditory games: Games such as "Simon Says" or "Bingo" require kids to listen in order to play. If they don't listen, they can't perform tasks correctly. Children like to win games, and games that focus on another player stating steps or have an audio component to state tasks and steps will encourage kids to improve their listening skills. Play these games with your child to help make the games more fun. Books: Books can be turned into games. Read a book to a child and ask questions afterward. For every correct answer, provide some type of award. If reading to a group, turn the questions into a group game. Many books focus solely on improving listening skills, such as riddle books which require kids to listen to and remember all details before they can solve the riddle. Other books include guessing games such as "20 Questions." To guess the answer, kids must remember the answers to the 20 questions. Videos and music: Many movies, shows and songs are actually full of games. These games require children to listen carefully to perform the desired task. Typically, these tasks include saying a certain phrase or doing a certain dance or exercise move. These tasks build upon each other to develop kids' ability to remember what they've heard.
