This is my first machine and I have learned to sew on this. It is great for someone much more experienced, but also user friendly for those who are just beginning. It is a great machine. I have enjoyed using it so much.

This sewing machine is really easy to use, it does everything I need it to do, and I would recommend it if all you're doing is sewing easy things, mending etc.

bought this for doing some sewing and beginning quilting. so far i have had several jams of thread in the bobbin housing. it takes on average 15 minutes to fix because i have to take plates off to get to jam. other than that, the machine has performed well and is very easy to use. the multiple stitches are very nice. nothing too advanced, but great for making decorative stitches on clothing and quilting.

This is exactly what I wanted. I have tested all the stitches and it works very well, it is very quiet compared with my old machine. I can't wait to get going on some sewing projects.

Very lightwieght and runs quietly. It is much lighter than my older model. The only problem I have had is the lightbulb was broken in shipping.

This is a great simple sewing machine. It has the basic stitches necessary to get the job done, nothing fancy though. I bought it as a gift for my grandma who only uses it for hemming pants and sewing lighter materials. I was pretty surprised though when she let me borrow it and I used it to sew a heavier fabric and it worked great! It handled it much better than I thought. It's not too light though and I know that it is advertised as "lightweight". It has more mechanical parts seeing that it's not electronic or computerized so I guess it's lightweight compared to other mechanically based sewing machines. It's top speed is also much faster than I thought. I have a Brother SQ-9000 and this machine has a faster top speed than my SQ-9000. This machine also has a nice compartment that opens up which makes it easy to clean out the dust and fuzz that gets caught underneath due to normal sewing. Great machine for the price and Brother makes great machines so you know you're always getting a deal. The only reason I knocked it down a star is because the title is misleading. It says 35 stitch function but the machine only does 14 stitches. Not sure what they mean by "stitch functions"

I love this little machine! It is so easy to use! I started quilting and wanted a wider arm. This is perfect! The machine is light weight and easy to move. I am so happy I decided to purchase a new machine! Can not say enough about the extra speed this baby puts out. Goes through thick seems and layers with easy! If you are in the market like me and looking for a new or even a second machine, this is the one!!! Thanks again Singer for another wonderful product.

My niece needed a sewing machine because she had used hers so much that it actually quit sewing and you know that the day of getting someone to fix something is over so after doing all of the research I bought this sewing machine. And boy was she glad. Then, her sister was so jelouse I had to buy her one. After we had a family get together, of quilting, I decided I MUST HAVE ONE TOO.SO I PLAN TO ORDER ME ONE ASAP. BY the way, I have never sewn on anything but XXXXXXX, more than 50 years years and counting, but because the XXXXXXX have become so pricey, I bought this Brother, and now I will never buy another Singer. This machine is quite, sews beautifully, and has many metal parts. I can't understand why some of the makers use plastic parts in areas where there is so much wear and tear. I am very pleased!

It's a good, basic sewing machine. Easy to use, lightweight to bring out for occasional sewing needs. I recently lost weight and need to take in some pants and this is a good machine for that. I would not use it for anything too difficult (ie: sewing duck or any overly heavy weight fabric) but for simple sewing of clothing and household projects it's perfect.

My sewing machine of 25 yrs quit.replaced with a $**** machine that was way beyond what I wanted or needed..This is not my previous machine but no one should worry about buying this machine...easy to use....has every stitch the average sewer will use with stitch positioning...very nice machine.....I sew between 400 and 500 scrub tops a year and this really does sew 1100 stitches a minute,,,,I am happy

Love this machine! Easy to use! The only thing I don't like about it is the fact it is very light weight and often moves when I am working on my quilts. Otherwise, I love the machine..

The operations of this machine aren't as smooth as I hoped. It is sturdy and excellent for taking to sewing classes, road trips etc. In other words it can handle a beating from traveling in a car.

I really like this machine. I just started it using, it sews nicely, threads easily and has a lot of great accessories. I really appreciate the numbered guides on the machine. The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5, is some of the minor plastic parts, like the thread guide with the bobbin area, are a bit flimsy. This is not a problem for me as the machine fills my needs for sewing at an excellent price. If I was still sewing for 5 children and allowing them to use it :-), I would need something more sturdy. However. The main mechanics are excellent.I am happy with the machine and am glad I bought it.
