I bought one months ago because I love to do cross stitch , my mother saw it so she asked if I would buy her one since she is legally blind and cannot work a computer. She has limited site so if she wants to read something we blow it up larger and she props it on a book to read like, a recipe. But with that system the page always falls over. So I got her one and she loves it. Her friend came over and saw it and she said that would be great for her to use with her embroidery machine, it would hold up the pattern and she could follow along. So while it is supposed to be something for cross stitch other uses are evident. I love that fact that it folds flat and it easy to set up and use. I highly recommend it.
This item is not worth your money. First, magnetic strips do not work. They do not stay up there at the place you place them. They fall on to the floor due to very poor magnetic force. Second , it is too small. If you finally find a spot where magnetic strips can stay, the strips may cover the part of the page you need to read, and you cannot move the strips to adjacent locations because they may not stay at the new location and will fall! It is a pain. Plus, it is made of card board, very cheap material.
I found this item too flimsy to hold up my chart. The magnets were weak and not strong enough to hold through two layers of paper, regular copy paper. I think I will stick to my old metal, heavy typing paper holder.
love it will recommend to all my family and friends.

I work with some really large patterns and I was looking for something that would hold them without having to fold them up. This works great for normal sized like two page patterns, but nmot for the really big four page sizes. Still a great product.

I hesitantly ordered this item, because I've tried so many other items for stitchers that just didn't suit my needs. THIS PRODUCT IS WONDERFUL!!! I now have less neck and eye strain. It is so easy to use. I use it to hold my recipes when cooking as well as my charts when stitching. I would highly recommend this to anyone, stitcher or not. Cooks, computer users and typists, students, artists, etc... the list can go on and on. Order more than one, have one by the computer, one in the kitchen and one for your stitching and arwork.
I don't know how I ever got along without this! For years I've just been propping up my patterns in whatever way I could....and always have to stop stitching when it slides down to the floor. I was so desperate that I was even looking for some type of a clipboard, but then OverStock brought this item to my attention as a suggestion. (Thank You OverStock) The magnets are great because I can mark my postion with them so I don't lose my place on longer rows or lets me mark my place where I stopped for the day without marking up the pages. The magnetic page holder can be used horizontal or vertical. It's easy to set up and easy to store.....it's perfect!!!
I thought the product would be slightly different. It doesn't pop up to resemble the picture they show. The picture shows a 45 degree slant so that the chart sits to an almost perfect degree for sighting. However, if you set up the product to look identical to the sample shown, the slant will be about 80 degrees which is too high for me since I need it within an arm's length. Since the back is made to collapse for storage, if the back isn't fully extended, it tends to relax over time and the chart settles ultimately settles to it's collapsed position.
I am very glad that I purchased this item; no longer do I have to prop books and charts up, and lose my place while stitching. The magnets are incredibly useful for marking where I am in the chart. The only negative is that, at 8 1/2" x 11" , it is smaller than a chart book, but I am sure it can be moved around so that it will still work. I definitely recommend this product for anyone who spends a lot of time stitching.
