The instructions are clear and once you get the hang of how to hold your thread there are several more advanced patterns to try. It comes with a very good package of different size needles that will save you money. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in trying this lost art form.

The needles that come with the book comprise the only reason I purchased this book instead of others. I didn't want to have to purchase a million different products just to get started. However, the actual book was just so-so. I think I learned better how to tat by watching Youtube (thank you, internet). The instructions are pretty easy to follow, but I just couldn't make my circles right. Watching someone join circles was way easier than reading a book that didn't really explain how to hold everything to make it look right. For what it is and for what print can do, it is perfectly good; I just needed something more. The four needles I received are great for starting out. I think they make the book worth purchasing. It's not much more to buy this book than it would be to purchase a set of four needles, so the extra dollar or two is worth having this somewhat-dated book.

Very nice product, book and needles, a very good value. Well packaged. Ordered 15th; shipped the 16th; did not arrive until the 28th. The shipping partner seemed not to be very efficient. Would recommend Overstock as usually shipping is very fast, this is my first order that took a long time to arrive.

I recommend this set for an absolute beginner. The needles are included, so you can start immediately. Book is very informative. Instructions and photos for both right and left hand are included.

I like getting the book and needles at the same time. Where I live, you cannot find tatting needles, so getting the books with the needles was a plus.
