Story Behind the Art:

This doll house was produced by an effort to make a difference in the lives of Maya women in Belize. By becoming income owners in their households the Maya women gain their self-esteem, their independence, and an ability to put their children into high school (which is not free in Belize). Currently this effort provides cottage industry jobs to approximately 50 embroiderers and 35 basket weavers. Projects have also been initiated to help men in the communities. Each effort undertaken upholds all principles of fair trade.

The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
