Great Machine
I received this machine for my birthday last year, and it hasn't disappointed! I wanted it to use to take to quilt groups as it is fairly lightweight, but I find myself using it more at home too. Don't be intimidated by the trendy name; it is a workhorse and the most user friendly machine I have ever used. I use it for quilting which includes machine quilting with the walking foot, as well as for sewing garments. What it does, it does well--beautiful, even stitches and perfect buttonholes. I love the one-hand needle threader. It gives a lot of bang fo the buck! I highly recommend it for beginners because it is so user friendly, as well as for serious sewers who aren't looking for high-end features such as machine embroidery.

bad quality
I have only had this machine for a few months,thought it felt kind of cheap but wanted to believe the best . used it about 4 times and it worked ok, but then I used a fancy stitch and now it wont go back to a straight stitch . It only gums up the thread when I try to sew a straight stitch now . We have tried everything we can think of to fix this, followed the manuals suggestions , checked and rechecked settings, bobbin, etc , but to no avail . I would not recommend this machine.

Very happy
I have received my new machine in a timely manner and in a good condition. I haven't tried all of it's functions yet, and that's why I am giving it four stars instead of five. I am currently working on a summer dress made of very light linen fabric, and the stitches look very nice. I am curious to find out how well it will work on heavier fabrics. I have been sewing for over 30 years, but this is my first electronic sewing machine. I think I'll enjoy working with it very much. It has many features, like easy threading option for example, that make it so much easier to use than any of my previous machines. I also like Serging stitch because it makes edges look very nice. The instruction booklet is relatively easy to follow, but illustrations could be clearer. I wish that it came with an instructional DVD as well. I hope that my new Janome Threadbanger-30 will serve me well for years to come.

Great Machine
Through the years, I've had several different brands of sewing machines but I felt that I wanted a heavier duty machine for quilting as well as projects requested by grandchildren. I read previous reviews, knew that Janome is a good brand and this fit my needs. The instruction manual was easy to follow, bobbin winding, threading the machine were simple, the machine runs quietly, and stitches are consistent which my last machine wasn't. I'm looking forward to many years of sewing on this great machine.

Exceeds expectations
Love this machine, I was one of those who fell for the "jean machine"hype and so suffered with a poor quality device before I realized my mistake; I was new to sewing. I sat down and started sewing with this as soon as I set it up, it was that easy.
