This machine is a great addition to your craft room if you already have a high quality sewing-only machine. It only embroiders, so you will need another machine for sewing. The machine is easy to thread and set up, and you can sew the built-in patterns as soon as you open the box! The best thing about this machine is that it is so easy to download embroidery designs from the internet, and transfer them to a compact flash card to move them to the machine. You can embroider from the cf card, or, for designs you will use often, like a monogram, you can move them to the machine's on-board memory so they are always loaded and ready to go! The machine creates even running stitches, solid fill stitches, and beautiful satin stitches. It's easy to thread, and the drop in bobbin is simple to install. It comes with 2 hoops, and the largest gives you a very generous embroidery area, One "must have" accessory that is exclusive to Janome is the Clothsetter device, which enable you to accurately place your embroidered design on your finished project, time after time, If you want to create, for example, a border along the top of a king sized sheet, this device will allow you to break the design into sections, and embroider each one in exactly the right spot so the entire design registers correctly. This in itself would make Janome my only choice for an embroidery machine!Read More
I have this machine and love it. I do simple embroidery and it's very user friendly. I create all my quilt labels on the computer, put them on a jump drive and insert into the machine. Works like a charm and you can sew away while it's working. Having had a combo machine was so frustrating because you couldn't sew while the embroidery was working; no so with this. Shows thread breaks and low bobbin too.Read More
