  • Lots of Fun to Use

    Easy to use after a little practice. I've only used the Fiskars templates with it and I've had no trouble with it cutting up the template or making a mess of my project. I'm not sure how well it will work for free-hand cutting, haven't been brave enough to try that yet. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive way to produce cut-outs and borders.

  • great little cutter

    I also thought this was a piece of junk--until I realized that I had my templates upside down. (The way the cutting templates that you use with this are designed, you really think they're supposed to be one side up, but it's actually the other.) I also found that, annoyingly, this cutter really doesn't work with all shape templates--you pretty much have to use the Fiskars ones. Anyway, I just love it. It's not perfect, but is great for everyday shape cutting. You really need to follow the instructions enclosed with this item closely. You also need to practice setting the dial appropriately for the various thicknesses of paper you use; it takes a little practice and scrap paper wasting. I have also done some cool free-hand cutting with the free-hand guard that's included. Note: I haven't tried to cut the really thick cardstock--just ordinary cardstock and thinner paper. Maybe cutting thick cardstock would not work; I don't know. Also note: the little replacement blades do need relatively frequent replacement, even for the casual user.

    This "tool" is very difficult to use. I've ruined countless photos and scrapbook paper trying to get the dumb thing to work. I even bought replacement blades thinking that was the problem...it didn't help.
