  • Great purchase, silhouette portrait

I bought the silhouette portrait to fabricate stencils for etching glass in my sandblaster. This is one of the greatest purchases that I've made. This cutter is very easy to use saving me tons of money on stencils. The cost of the machine was great and I feel the quality of the output could not be beat by a cutter 5 times as much. I cut very fine detailed stencils out of a self adhesive vinyl which very inexpensive, attach them to my glassware and gently sandblast them with awesome results. You can chemically etch the glassware if you do not have a sandblaster. I also cut reusable stencils on Over-n-over stencil blanks. I've had this for about 3 weeks and cut a ton of stencils . It blows me away on how this machine functions and quality for the work it performs. Some of the best software that I've used also. A CNC genius developed this. I highly recommend this item . The software also excepts any pictures or clip art from your computer.

When I received the machine it was easy to unpack and setup. The big problem was that there no good instructions on how to use the machine. Anything on the quick start guide or on the cricut cartridge guide directed you to the internet. The main reason I purchase the Expression because the specifications said no computer was required. This is false. If you want to be able to use this machine in a productive manner you must have a computer. I have a friend who is attempting to help me but she doesn't have a cricut. I purchased the bundle because it had some extras. They were all in the box. However the $50 image card had expired and I can not use it. I am very disappointed. I a sure the machine is a great machine and after I get past the learning curve I know it will be useful, but right now I find it frustrating. Would I purchase again? Absolutely not.

Quick delivery. I use the machine mostly for letter cutting; it works great! Learning curve was fairly easy. Got signed up for the two free months subscription; not a great benefit for my use, but glad to see what it provides. Still a lot of patterns for purchase even with basic subscription. Love the ability to use the pens for additional decorations. Still have a lot to learn, but am very happy with my Cricut Explore so far.
