It doesn't restrict movement much but keeps hand in a comfortable, natural position. I generally have good posture, but occasionally strain my wrist typing all day. I wear this at night sometimes and it feels better. Please seek medical help if you have long lasting pain, but this can alleviate temporary pain well. My fiancee has a more rigid, handed one she likes.
I developed carpel tunnel after my pregnancy, and bought the band to alleviate some of the pain. But the brace never really worked. The design is bad because it doesn't really hold the wrist straight. The wrap kept sliding, requiring me to re-wrap my wrist . I recommend just going to a medical device store and getting the splint. It was cheaper and worked perfectly. Save your money--I wish I did.
