Brother XR 7700 Computerized Sewing Machine (Refurb)

I've been using this machine for a couple of months and I just love it! It's smooth and easy to control!

I have been sewing for more than 60 years. It's not possible to rate durability on a machine I've been using for less than a month, but I give this machine top rating on everything else. The stitch selection is excellent. I will actually use most of them! The machine runs smoothly and quietly. Features like the one step buttonholer that measures your button for size are usually found on much more expensive machines. It is very light weight but does not jump around (a problem friends have told me they had with light-weight machines). I thought it would be nice have a chart of stitches on the front of the machine instead of a picture frame. I was pleased to find that the frame swings away to reveal the chart. A generously sized "table" is also included ; it makes it easier to work on large projectrs.

Really like this machine and overstock has such great prices. You will be amazed at all the stiches it does and so fast. However, when I got my machine it had no power chord or pedal, so they sent me another one. It was a little time consuming. Make sure if you order this machine , that you get everything you are supposed to get with it, as they do not check the box before they ship it out. The second shipment did not have the bonus presser feet or the dvd instructions! FYI the presser feet it should come with are:buttonhole foot,overcasting foot,monogramming foot,zipper foot,zigzagfoot(will be on machine when you get it),blind stitch foot,button fitting foot,& 3 bonus feet,walking foot,quilting foot, 1/4 inch quilting foot. I found that some other feet I had from my previous machine also fit on this one as they are both low shank. When I was doing research on this machine I could not find this info, so I am passing it on to you. Hope it helps with your decision!

I am a beginner sewer and have never used a sewing machine before. I was worried that this machine would be too complicated for me to understand. The sewing machine arrived in less than a week. It was well packaged and included all the parts that were advertised. The instructional DVD it came with showed me everything I needed to know to get started. After learning all the basics (i.e., how to load the bobbin, how to thread the needle) and practicing the different types of stitches shown in the DVD, I even hemmed a pair of jeans and got it right on my first try! The things I like about this machine: I can sew without a foot pedal--I just have to press a button to start and stop the machine and I can adjust the speed with a simple switch on the front. I can select which stitch I want to use by choosing a number on the computer screen and then the machine tells me which foot to use for that stitch. About it being refurbished: I was concerned about that too, especially when I kept getting an error message "E5" the first few times I tried to use the start/stop button. I thought I was going to have to return the machine. After reading through the troubleshooting guide in the included manual, I realized that the start/stop button won't work if the foot pedal is plugged in. The machine was fine after I unplugged the foot pedal. I told my sister, who has a lot more experience with sewing, about this machine and she was very impressed with all of its cool features. Overall, this is a great sewing machine and I can't wait to use it on my next project.
