Love my new machine
I had some reservations about purchasing when I read reviews about thread tangling problems. I found this to be true but only with an upholstery thread when reversing. Changed out the thread and it sews beautifully even through heavy upholstery fabric. Love that I can see the bobbin and the drop in is wonderful. Really hated pulling up thread. Found the auto threader works great but I had to look closer at the picture in the instruction manual to figure out how it worked. When researching this purchase I found other retailers said an instructional CD and a walking foot were included. They were not included in this purchase. Overall this is a great machine and the features make sewing fun again. Shipping took longer than most Overstock purchases.

Amazingly Shocking!!!!
I received my new Brother sewing machine day before yesterday and I am still in shock. What an amazing machine! Its everything they said it would be and more. My machine seems brand new, I see not clue of a former life anywhere or with any of the attatchments. For it being a reconditioned machine it is in brand new condition. I have sewn all the built in stitches and charcters and am amazed at the quality and ease of use. One thing the ad didn't tell you though, is that you do get a hard plastic cover with this machine. You really don't need a carrying case unless you take your machine to a lot of classes. It it light weight. I was very nervous doing this online without being able to actually touch or run the machine but couldn't be more thrilled with it! If you are interested in this machine, don't think twice...Do It! My husband and I are still in shock. This reconditioned offer has to be the best kept secret around. I will tell everyone about it. Thanks Overstock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure to buy replacement plan!
I love this machine! It sews so well and I haven't had any issues with it. I do wish the arm was longer as I have to really roll up my fabric if I'm sewing a big piece. My machine arrived it brand new condition. The only big negative is that I have had this machine for 5 months and I am already having a technical issue. One of the prongs where the plug connects on the machine is loose and gets pushed into the machine when the cord is attached. I have to jiggle the cord to get any power and it will cut out at any moment. I called overstock and they are extremely nice and are helping me replace it since I purchased the additional protection plan. The replacement plan is definitly worth the little bit of extra money and I would advise it on a refurbished item.

Love this Machine
I just started quilting and needed a machine that would help me get into this new hobby. I have only used the basic features of this machine, but I love it. It is easy to thread & use. I love the hand controls for speed vs. having to use the pedal (although there is a pedal, if you prefer to use it). I am excited to learn some of the other features of this machine! I've already completed 2 quilts using it, so it has definitely seen some hours logged already and it performs just like new.

Very good buy for the price
I have several machines, including one with a threading device on the machine, I found it to time cosuming and aggrivating on the 1st one and the same on this one. Thank God for tweezers, which should be included in the sewing accessory kit, buy a tweezer just for the threading that goes faster when done the old fashioned way by hand & eye. Reading the instruction booklet step by step is a must, because some buttons do 2 things after making adjustments to the machine. I purchased it for the alphabet sequence, which I haven't tried yet, my other had a computerized card which was very good and much more detail, but this seems like I'll be able to utilize more space without using additional attachments to the machine. The machine is quiet and very smooth, but that needle threading area is just to close for threading without being annoyed. At the price I would recommend it, but only if you have patience for the threading and time to sit and work on the different setting procedures. A very good buy and this had to be just a return cause there was notihing indicating it had been used. (wish the CD came with it)

Great product! More options than I know how to us
Great sewing machine, I have had it for over a year now, and not one problem with it. I am not a professional sewer and only use it randomly for craft projects and occasionally my husband's jeans. Handles them well. The extended platform is really nice for some crafts and light fabrics. I like the letters, just know that they size variations are very small....The largest letters you can get are only 1/2 inch in size, so only good for names on shirts or other small applications. Very small letters. It has a nice speed restrictor on it and is easy to thread. (It had been years since I'd sewn when I purchased and had no issues getting going, ddidnt even use the book!) Very portable and a nice case to store it in, but the expanded platform has to be stored seperatly.

This is a good machine and worth the money. I have had lots ask where I got it and how much. It does a well enough job for me. I like the needle threader and the bright work light. The alphabet font sews very tiny letters and you cannot change size which is not to good so that part of the machine is not any good so don't buy it thinking you can sew names on work shirts it will not work for that but will mend a sleeve.

Brother SQ900 Sewing Machine
I purchased this sewing machine for my wife because it was such a super deal on Overstock. She had another Brother sewing machine but not as fancy as this one. She says "I already have a sewing machine, what do I need with another". After one day using it she fell in love with it, still loves me though, and gave the other Brother to our daughter. The Brother SQ900 does so many many different stitch types and patterns at the touch of a button. I am glad I bought it and so is my wife.

Easy to use, light to carry, very pleased so far
I have not had the machine that long. I was making a pull curtain with three layers of cloth, all thin cotton. I changed the needle for denim, but the machine still hesitated, and I had to slow the pace , fearing for timing problems! For the price I'm not complaining , I think I will like it just fine.
