Customer Reviews
Gone is the 50 lb. machine of old - that I am sure worked, but not for me. I needed something easy, easy, easy! This baby is it. My 10 year old son watched the DVD and then explained the way it all worked to me. He has already started a scrap material blanket of his own. My only concern when researching the purchase was whether or not it would come with all the accessories since it is refurbished. As far as I can tell, it did - even all the presser feet. The only way I can tell that it is refurbished is the clear plastic template for use in eyeing up embroidery positioning seems to be a bit scratched - although not much, and certianly not to any degree that even matters. It is not too heavy, and is very quiet, even on my glass top kitchen table. I can sew and not wake the baby or interrupt the Yankee game on tv, and can almost get away with sewing without my son knowing and begging to use it - may have to buy another! There is no travel across the table from the vibration either. The customer service was excellent when I needed to call in to complete my order due to a minor computer glitch when purchasing. And, I was disappointed to see that standard shipping meant I'd have to wait 5-10 days. Well, no such thing! The machine was received in five days - and those five days included the weekend. Not bad at all! Haven't tried the embroidery yet. I am liking the push button sew option, the thread trimming options, the ease to fill a bobbin, and well, all of it!
I love this machine. My last sewing machine was very basic and rather tempremental. This has made sewing so much more enjoyable, very easy to use. In the two weeks I have had it, I have spent about five hours a night using it and can't find anything negative to say.
Can't complain about the price considering that others are $400 - $500. I bought this specifically to do embroidery with the built in letters that this machine works with. It's very rudimentary however. You can only shrink the letters perfectly to scale. No adjusting the letter thickness, no shrinking the width or distance between letters, etc. I'm not sure if you can import text files or not. Anyway, with the built in lettering, if you have a long title like "Supervisor" you will WISH that this machine could thicken up the letters, but it can't. Embroidering long titles (like "Supervisor") can only fit within the 4 inch embroidery area if they are shrunk pretty small. Also letters are not embroidered 1 letter at a time, therefore a stitch jumps over to the next letter; You have to cut the excess stitches off afterward. Apparently high-end machines don't have this problem.
Machine is easy to operate, does regular sewing well, almost vibration free, simple one step buttonholes, needle positioner, thread cutter, needle threader, whats not to like?
I have wanted a machine for embroidery for a long time. I couldn't justify spending thousands. This is new for me. It is easy and I will do things for my grandchildren. I will also by towels and decorate and monogram them. That will save me lots of money as decorated towels can be very expensive. My sewing machine costs three times what I paid for this one. I just love it. When I have quilting marathons with my sisters they can also use this machine and not have to bring their own if they don't want to. I love it and am glad I bought it. I love overstock
