I have owned several of these over my adult life and have found all of them to be of excellent quality. We have passed them down to younger family members with each new purchase. This one was purchased for a friend and she tried it out at our home and loved it!

Would definately recommend this sewing machine. Not too heavy or complicated. Before receiving(which was right away) I thought it was too good to be true. However this brother sewing machine is just right. Great value for the price. I Almost exclusively shop with Overstock at this point

This machine does 2 stitches, straight and zigzag, and can sew backwards. The foot pedal is much cheaper than my older brother sewing machine and it is much louder. That being said, it's an easy drop-in bobbin loader for the bottom thread. it works well for a basic machine. It's a good machine for mending and simple projects like hemming curtains, thin quilts or fabrics. i don't recommend this for anything thicker than 4 layers of shirt cotton. i tried hemming my jeans and it almost snapped the needle.

This was a lightweight machine that I purchased for my elderly mom so she could sew when she was in the mood without having to take out her old heavy machine which she cant lift anymore. It was simple to use and I was able to show her how to use it within an hour, we didn't go into making buttonholes. I wouldn't mind purchasing one for myself.

I am a beginner sewer, and this machine is perfect for me. It's easy to thread and the instructions booklet is decent. The stitch functions are basic, but as someone who has only made pillows, all I need is the ability to sew in a straight line. As other reviewers have indicated, I think this is a perfect "beginner" machine especially given the price.

Very good buy, easy to use. I started using it the day I got it!

I haven't sewed for quit a while and needed a machine that wasn't too complicated to get started again. This machine seems to be just what I'm looking for. Not a beginner model or something really advanced. Just right.

If you're looking for a heavy duty machine for quilting, but don't want to pay extra for one that is designed for it, look no further. This sewing machine definitely lives up to the Brother name, and works great. I'd recommend it to anyone.

This machine is working out beautifully. I bought this for my mother in law. We opened the box, plugged it in an just tried using it. Works great. So far so good!

This is a nice basic machine. The instruction booklet that comes with it is extremely helpful. It tells you how to do most things that you would want to do with basic stitches. Overall I am very pleased with this machine.
