I am an experienced sewer but I have not sewn anything in quite a while. I wanted a basic machine that was light enough to easily carry from room to room. This Brother machine is just what I needed. It is very easy to thread, just follow the arrows on the machine. It is heavy enough to be stable and sturdy but light enough to pick up and move. The stitch tension and length are easy to adjust. It is not loud when running. The bobbin winding is easy. Just start winding the bobbin slowly to make sure the thread is winding properly on the bobbin and does not slip off and wind onto the metal pin at first. The only things this machine does not have that would be nice are an automatic needle threader and decorative stitches. For the money, this machine is great.

I needed a machine that could do the basics and this is it. It came in perfect condition w/manual and extras. The pedal could be heavier it likes to float around the floor (plastic). The machine has plenty of power to go through several thicknesses of denim. Also does button holes and a variety of fancy stitches. I needed it for repairs and hemming and it fills these needs perfectly.

The smoothness of stitching and the ease in using this machine is simply wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a nicer sewing machine! The overall quality of this Brother sewing machine is excellent. I'd recommend it to beginner's and professional's alike. You don't have to be experienced to understand how the machine works or how to work the machine.

This is a great machine for starters. I am teaching my 6, 7 and 12 yr. olds and they love it. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Have had some bad luck with sewing machines. This one is a dream. Sews smooth and straight with minimal noise. Instructions are clear and precise. I was sewing within 45 minutes of delivery. Have already spread the news to my sewing friends. I would recommend it .

I was worried about buying a pre used sewing machine but it works great if you are looking for a cheap way to get started on a new hobbie this would be the way to go!!! I could not belive how fast the ordered shipped I had it in three days.. I keep telling my friends and family Over Stock is the way to buy.........

I like it and I dont. It sure beats hand sewing everything. I am having difficulty getting the tensions adjusted right. It tends to break my thread or become unthreaded which can be very frustrating. As for me I can t say if it is entirely the machines fault or mine. But its just a very basic sewing machine, if you are a beginner I would say buy it. If you end up like it than buy something fancier later on.

I found this product very to use. I have already done a few beginner projects with it. The price was right for me, but after sewing with it, I wished I had purchased one with more stitches for a little more money. Now I have one, but I wish I could be more creative with it. Definately great for basic projects, though.

When I purchased this machine, I was skeptical at first because I didn't know what to expect when getting a refurbished Sewing machine. I have to say that I am pleased. All of the parts were there, even the instruction manual. It works very well. I was able to finish two projects so far with no problems. It is worth it for the cost also.

I bought this refurbished sewing machine in a hurry to get a project done, and it shipped super fast! I tought myself how to use it with no problem at all, but I had some issues with it along the way. The bobbin thread kept breaking, and sometimes I ended up with loops on the underneath of the fabric. It may have been my own lack of experience with sewing or the old sewing machine itself. Regardless, it was an excellent deal, and I am totally satisfied with this purchase!

The bobbin case was missing from the original shipment, but once I received it (10 days later), I was very happy with my purchase.

I purchased the Brother sewing machine because I was having problems my "old" machine. I have found that the bobbin tension is impossible to get right, and the stiches are not tight. I didn't return the machine because it would cost me a fortune for the mail.

I was using my grandmother's Singer 404 machine before I purchased this one and as many times as I read the manual I couldn't figure it out. I started sewing as soon as I received this one and I love it! I already sewed a new zipper on one of my sweaters, made an apron from scratch and made a seat cushion from scratch. It's inspired me to start sewing more and I love it! I highly recommend it for beginners to experts.

I've been sewing for 30 years, but recently my machine died and couldn't be resuscitated Given I'm out of work, I just couldn't afford a pricey one. I've borrowed machines from friends that left me really disappointed at how cheap they were, so was a bit worried about this and buying a used one can be risky. But at this price, I took the dive and am so glad that I did! It is a great little machine with a lot of "bang for the buck" The stitches are nice and even, it does everything I need it to, is very simple to thread and use. It would be great for a beginner or someone like me, who just needs a good basic machine. It isn't fancy, and I don't think it's intended as a workhorse, just a decent hobbyist model. I couldn't be more delighted. I'm truly grateful to Overstock for offering this great deal.

I got this machine to bring with me overseas - it doesn't weigh a lot or have a lot of parts to lose. i've used it now for a number of small alterations and a couple of bigger products and it does well for simple dressmaking, etc. It is a bit light, so it feels untrustworthy, but it does a good job every time and it's easy to figure out, especially if you have some experience with a sewing machine. I'm pleased with the purchase.

Kinda bought this for fun, so that my wife can do lil hemming here and there. It sits around the house collecting dust now haha. But I have no complaints about it since it was a great deal.
