Customer Reviews
Sews over upholstery fabric beautifully~ wh. my ancient Singer did not ~ but the light is horrible !!! and No Way you thread the needle w/o a threader.
i am so happy with this sewing machine. im surprised at all it does. its easy to use.there are alot of stitches to choose from. its relatively quiet..ive had it for 6months now and it is still running great. it was such an affordable price. i got it as a back up sewing machine when my bernina needed to be taken in for repairs. i tend to pull out this brother more. its so light and easy to move around.loving it zero complaints.
For the price this machine does everything I expected from it. Once you figure out the self threader it's great.

I bought this machine because my 25 year old sewing machine was too expensive to fix. The new one was easy to assemble and figure out how to use. I used the needle threader with no problem (a great feature for "mature" sewers like myself!). I do wish it came with a case for storing it away but I guess I'll just have to sew a dust cover for it. I hope it lasts as long as its predecessor!

This machine provides more features and overall value than those priced similarly in recent holiday sales locally, e.g., at dept. stores, fabric stores, etc. My only quibbles are: (1) The diagrams provided for threading the machine are completely inadequate, creating unnecessary hassle that a more thorough and well-thought-out diagram would have prevented. If you buy this and have trouble threading it, ask a salesperson at a fabric store that sells the same brand to show you what to do on a similar machine. (2) The "auto" threader is not for those of us who have trouble seeing, as its tiny hook is even harder to see than the eye of the needle. (3) The English measurement seam allowance guides on the foot plate are too far back to be easy to use--I look at the metric alongside the foot and translate to the English. (4) Finally, after more than 3 decades sewing (some of it professionally), I find it hard to sew a straight seam with this machine, but perhaps I'll get used to the machine and this will be ok. In the meantime, this is still an excellent deal and one I'll use until I research and choose a higher-end machine.
