fantastic machine
bluehouseonahill3  from california,  Apr 28, 2009
i am so happy with this sewing machine. im surprised at all it does. its easy to use.there are alot of stitches to choose from. its relatively quiet..ive had it for 6months now and it is still running great. it was such an affordable price. i got it as a back up sewing machine when my bernina needed to be taken in for repairs. i tend to pull out this brother more. its so light and easy to move around.loving it zero complaints.

I love this machine
mochadog  from seattle,  Feb 13, 2009
For the price this machine does everything I expected from it. Once you figure out the self threader it's great.

Brother sewing machine CE4000
patriciarg  from Westfield, MA,  Dec 27, 2008
I bought this machine because my 25 year old sewing machine was too expensive to fix. The new one was easy to assemble and figure out how to use. I used the needle threader with no problem (a great feature for "mature" sewers like myself!). I do wish it came with a case for storing it away but I guess I'll just have to sew a dust cover for it. I hope it lasts as long as its predecessor!

Solid Value w/Quibbles
bonnie1608  from Illinois,  Dec 23, 2008
This machine provides more features and overall value than those priced similarly in recent holiday sales locally, e.g., at dept. stores, fabric stores, etc. My only quibbles are: (1) The diagrams provided for threading the machine are completely inadequate, creating unnecessary hassle that a more thorough and well-thought-out diagram would have prevented. If you buy this and have trouble threading it, ask a salesperson at a fabric store that sells the same brand to show you what to do on a similar machine. (2) The "auto" threader is not for those of us who have trouble seeing, as its tiny hook is even harder to see than the eye of the needle. (3) The English measurement seam allowance guides on the foot plate are too far back to be easy to use--I look at the metric alongside the foot and translate to the English. (4) Finally, after more than 3 decades sewing (some of it professionally), I find it hard to sew a straight seam with this machine, but perhaps I'll get used to the machine and this will be ok. In the meantime, this is still an excellent deal and one I'll use until I research and choose a higher-end machine.

WHAT A FIND!
hofftrk  from Ellensburg WA,  Dec 9, 2008
As a novice sewer I was using my grandmothers 80 year old Singer but wanted something affordable that I could learn to use. I unpacked it and within the hour I was using it. This machine is so light and easy to use, I have no regrets about buying it and would rec ommend it to anyone. It is very portable and I like the fact that it is self threading. As with anything you buy these days the instructions are not the easiest to follow but the markings on the machine it self for threading and thread direction are a plus.

A wonderful sewing machine. I sew rarely, but sometimes I do it. So, I needed high quality machine and not for professionals. This model is easy to use and in the same time has a lot of functions. Definitely I would recommend it to my friends.

Great All Purpose Machine
gizathecat  from Near Seattle,  Nov 14, 2008
I finally retired my 30 year-old "boat anchor" of a sewing machine and got this one. I was up and running on it in about a day, working on a 1948 vintage apron pattern. I also mended a very stretchy knit top and the mended seam looks and is holding quite nicely. I've not used any of the fancy stitches and it's unlikely I will, but I'd rather have them available than regret not having them them later. What I really like about this sewing machine is it's lack of heft. It works like my old "boat anchors", but I can move it from place to place without busting a gut.The only design flaw I noticed is the plate covering the bobbin comes completely out and could end up on the floor or some other unwanted place if you are not careful. Another "oddity" is the so-called automatic needle threader. I've not figured out that feature, and I can thread the needle on my own just fine. So if I could rate the machine on design I'd give it four out of five stars. My sewing needs are pretty simple: Period piece costumes, stuffed toys, pillow cases, and other fun stuff. If your needs are pretty simple and you're not going to be sewing through heavy weight textiles, then go for this one. It's pretty darned good and a a great value.

Great Machine!
maimee1  from Long Beach, CA,  Nov 4, 2008
I bought this machine because my Singer(10 years old from HSN) gave up on me in the middle of creating my daughter's Halloween costume. I was able to finish the costume in a snap and am now sewing Christmas presents. This sewing machine works like a dream, is very quiet and easy to use. The needle threader is really a neat addition although it took a little time to figure out. I was intent on not buying another inexpensive machine but I am very happy with this one so far! Another plus is that it is so lightweight. It would be great to take along to a sewing or quilting class! You cant beat this one for the price. One drawback: no case included.

Great Machine
twhonline  from Swansea, SC,  Nov 3, 2008
This is a great machine. For those who can see to threat a needle no worries, I didn't have to put my glasses on to thread it once I figured it out. Lighweight, easy to do bobbin. If your a 1st time or old hand sewer this machine is worth every penny

sewing part time
cuda  from Bellwood, IL,  Oct 24, 2008
I have not used a sewing machine in at least 15 years, so I was a little apprehensive, but reading the other reviews about this model - which were very positive, was very important to me and that's what encouraged me to buy it. I didn't want to get stuck with a lemon! So far, everything has worked out well. I have not had any problems with the machine, and I hope I don't in the future!!

This was a gift for my daughter and she really likes the machine; especially the different stitch choices and automatic bobbin feature. It is light weight and easy for her to handle. She finds it very user friendly for a novice seamtress.

I love this sewing machine. I bought this one after my old one had enough. I forgot how nice it was to sew with a great machine. It's so easy and instructions are great as long as you're familiar with a sewing machine. I use this machine daily and wouldn't want any other.

Great bargain
italy42  from Buffalo, NY,  Oct 19, 2008
My machine arrived a few days ago and I am having a ball discovering all the things it can do. The directions are clear and it sews very smoothly. All this for half of what it would have cost to repair my old machine!
