My favorite machine

Nonameplease from Texas, May 16, 2007

The best features of this machine (to me) are the push-button start/stop*, the variable speeds, the ease of threading the needle, and the way you don't have to unthread the machine to refill the bobbin. This machine is different, but I love it, and it's worth the time it takes to learn how to use it. I HOPE they don't stop making it...I have had a hard time finding it. * I love not having to chase the foot feed all over the floor.

Great machine at at great price.

MelFlorida from Florida, May 20, 2006

I have been sewing all my life and have used many machines. I am by no means a "tailor quality" seamstress, but this Brother sewing machine is what I have been waiting for!! It was easy to learn the computerize features and once mastered, make things much easier (love the self threading needle feature, but not to fond of the bobbin winder - cumbersome). This machine is perfect for beginners because it is VERY easy to control the sewing speed with the foot peddle I have found NO defects or evidence of refurbishing on my machine. It came with the Brother manual and all the listed attachments. BUY THIS MACHINE WITH CONFIDENCE!!

Machine Doesn't Work

Barb42 from Surprise, AZ, Aug 21, 2008

I just received my Brother CS80 Sewing Machine. Hooked it up and turned it on. It started beeping radically and F4 was flashing in the window. No matter how many times I turn the machine off and on it keeps beeping and flashing F4. I checked to make sure there was not any thread tangled --- there wasn't. Since it just arrived there was nothing else to check. I looked in the book to find out what F4 meant and couldl find nothing related to F4. If someone cannot help me out, I guess I will be returning the machine. Very frustrated as I purchased this machine to take with me when I visit my son in September. I have a big brand name sewing/embroidery machine and don't like to drag it out of the house because of what I paid for it. I also thought this would be a good machine to take to quilting classes as it would be easier to transport. Does anyone have any ideas what it going on with the machine. I have a feeling it is locked up but have no idea how to unlock it ??

CS80 great machine

jazzystitches from Philadelphia, PA, Jul 23, 2008

This is a great machine. I really like the thread cartridge and how you thread that and push it down to do the threading for you it's easy and helps alot. There are alot of great stitches on here and great stitch functions it's a good machine for a beginner as well as an expert seamstress and a fantastic machine for quiting. I like it so much I'm buying another one for a friend for a gift who is learning to sew. And Overstock.com is a great place to shop

Best Buy

Shelley50 from Oklahoma City, Ok, Mar 24, 2008

I have enjoyed learning to use this machine. The one thing I can tell you is, you MUST read the book that comes with it. You will save yourself a lot of time. I read it to learn how to thread it, and run the bobbin, chuckle, but then I put the book down and did my quilt without looking at the book. Hmmm... the reason for the book is it will tell you which foot to use and what stitch to use to get the best results. I found that out after I finished my quilt and was just looking through the book. I could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble.
