I bought this sewing machine for my granddaughter who has shown interest in learning to sew with Gramma. It's a great machine for beginners who are just starting out and don't need a lot of bells and whistles.

The cute factor is over the top, but what is best is that it is light weight, quiet, comes with a great instruction manual, and does what needs to be done and more. Buttonholes were a breeze and beautiful! I am a somewhat experienced sewer, but at this point in my life, all I need is the ability to make simple alterations, costumes and dresses for my grandgirls, curtains and crafts. I keep it in a canvas zip tote for protected storage. It's PURR-FECT! It's the machine I will pass on to the girls and use to teach them to sew.

Very pretty design. Instructions are normally what a cross stitch project would be. All materials are included, needle too. The only problem I had was figuring out the colors of the thread. Some of the colors are very, very similar to the eye such as blue-green and green-blue. It helps to have a craft store where you can go buy floss and look at the colors by number. The project will probably take three months or less for someone who sews a lot. Myself, I think it will take me at least six months if not a year. It is not a beginners project.

A very good machine; smooth and easy to handle. Love how it sews. Only wish it had new button to sew without the foot pedal, but it is a wonderful machine. I would highly recommend this machine.

The packaged set of 4 quilters ruler squares are invaluable and the sizes are a great variety, useful and easy to access for a range of patterns. The price is excellent and they are sturdy, easy to use and indispensable. I am glad that OVERSTOCK carries selected items forthose who like to sew, quilt, do crafts, etc. It is a great buy and an essential set for your quilter's tool box!

This is an excellent, sturdily-built piece of equipment. It is heavy, weighing about 44 pounds and needs a sturdy, dedicated space to live on in your craft or sewing room. (It does have cutouts for handle to use when you need to move it...but it is heavy!). My review is targeted to the use of this machine for cutting fabric pieces (although it will cut paper, thin balsa wood, aluminum cans, etc. with ease). It works with both the Sizzix quilting dies and the Accuquilt Go! dies, along with all sorts of Sizzix papercrafting dies (some accessories may be required to use thinner dies and the Accuquilt dies). It cuts perfect quilting shapes of fabric up to 8 layers thick. The quilting dies allow for a 1/4" seam allowance. It takes very little effort to crank the die through the machine. It can be very confusing as to which version of the Big Shot PRO to purchase. Know that the quilting edition is the same exact machine as the regular Big Shot PRO - the difference with the quilting edition is that it comes with an longer or "extended" cutting "tray" in order to use the the 25" long dies. For cutting long strips (length of fabric), and 8 layers x multiples of common quilt patches, the 25" long dies work great! The extended tray set-up is interchangeable with the standard tray set-up, though, so whichever you order, you can always get the other tray later. This is not a very portable machine to take to quilting club or class - if you are looking for something to transport or if you have very limited space, consider the Big Shot - it will handle many of the quilting dies and the 25" dies (but not the extra wide dies). The dies can be expensive....from $15 to $60 or more each, but these are handcrafted cutting dies and they cut with precision and should last for thousands of cuts. You cannot use the machine without purchasing the dies. Whenever you see that a die will fit the "Big Shot," know that it will also fit the Big Shot Pro. Another confusion is about the cutting mats. The mats are a must for the machine and they are a consumable item, so you want to order extra mats. The quilting version comes with the large, extended mats. I recommend purchasing a set or two of the standard mats to use with the majority of the quilting dies and perhaps the 25" slimmer mats for the strip dies. The cutting mats are an acrylic-like material that feed through the machine and provide the pressure for the die to cut the fabric. The die also cuts into the cutting mat (as it is designed to do) so the mats eventually wear out. I love this machine because it allows me to quickly cut precise pieces with the seam allowance. (I can never get precise cuts using my rotary cutter). I can cut out 8 layers of a quilt piece in a few seconds!! There is very little waste if you plan the placement of your fabric. It was a bit pricey and was a luxury item for me as I am a casual quilter. The value compared to the costwould more likely be fully realized by someone who creates quilt kits to sell, is a highly prolific piecer, or who has physical limitations that do not allow for the use of scissors or rotary cutting. I am happy with my purchase though and recommend it to fellow quilters.

Love this machine, have used consistently since October. Has features just like machines 4x the price. Been sewing 50 years, it makes sewing and creativity fun again. No mechanical issues, very happy A+A+A+A+

This is a nice machine, works very well. sews nice. Has enough options for most jobs. I only mend and do craft projects or simple pattern sewing. So this is enough for me right now. I am a senior and my old machine is a Kenmore from 1973, and it started to not work so well anymore, so wanted a new one. It comes with button hole foot, 1/4 foot, has just about everything my old one has except fancy pattern stitching that I rarely used. It does not have a tread cutter, so have to use scissors, and I can deal with that. It would make a nice machine for a beginner, or an old novice like me.

I have used the Brother brand machine since I started making clothes and crafts at 14. I still have the head of the machine, weighs a ton, and it still works. I just wanted something easier and lighter to carry around to work with. Love these machines

I bought this machine to replace a machine that I had for about 20 years. My old machine literally DIED late last summer. I have been lost for about 6 months without a sewing machine; not that I do a lot, but I make repairs, make some simple things, like pajamas, shorts, a skirt here and there. I decided to get this particular machine after I got my tax refund and I couldn't afford to spend a lot of money. This machine is well worth it! It was priced just right, and it may not have all the bells and whistles, but it does the basics like a dream! For the projects that I do, this machine is perfect! I was originally going to purchase the next step up, but when I thought about my finances, the projects that I do, and the value......this machine was perfect. I have made 3 pairs of pajamas so far, and just came back from the fabric store with a few more projects that I just can't wait to get started on. This is a very good machine for those who just want to make some simple items, make repairs, or to learn how to sew. I have taught basic sewing for a few years in a local fabric and craft store, and this meets my approval. It's simple to use (and that's the main thing), it's not too complicated, and it makes sewing a fun activilty. That's why I consider this a great "starter" machine. Even an experienced sewer with a limited income (like me) will like this machine.

These scissors are just the right weight for cutting fabric. They are really sharp and easy to handle even with my arthritis. They cut various thicknesses easily and precisely. I would recommend them to anyone sewing or crafting.

Don't expect industrial storage, and you won't be disappointed. This item is good for lighter-weight craft materials, which is what I bought it for. I chose the smoke colored drawers for an understated look in the living room (I have the rainbow drawers in the sewing room). It is sturdy enough for the cat to sit on top and not collapse like the all-plastic drawers did, or come apart like the "TinkerToy" cube-tower did!
