I'd been looking for a full-length, hooded, puffy black coat that didn't make me look like a planet -- this is the closest one I found that fit the bill.
Pros: This coat keeps me warm and toasty -- priority #1. The material has a nice soft sheen, not too shiny or plasticky. I shopped around and did some research, and the price was very good for this type of coat, and a Via Spiga at that. The fit is pretty good overall. The belt is wide enough and sturdily constructed such that it ties and unties in a snap, and I like that it's sewn on. I'm 5'5" and the hem hits about halfway down my shins -- just the right length to not get mucky or caught on things, as well as to give me easy access to get my boots/shoes on and off (and show them off, too!).
Cons: When zipped up, my chest area looks a little bit domed and squashed -- like I have a much larger chest than I do that's flattened by the coat. I've ameliorated this with some artful scarf draping. The zipper occasionally gets caught on the thin strips of fabric that run alongside it (though this is a common issue with any coat). I wish the hood had some sort of fastener -- there's no button or drawstring, so gravity inevitably kicks in, especially with this sort of material. Lastly, while the overall fit is good and slimmer than that of other similar coats I tried, I wish it were just a little slimmer-fitting (while retaining its warmth and comfort).
All told, this was another great find from Overstock -- it's an excellent coat.
